“But why would you do that?” Isamu asked.
“We were both drunk… and I hit her. I… I don’t even remember why I did that.”
But he knew. He remembered that part very well.
Because how repulsed I feel by the touch of a woman.
Ryosuke had gotten used to Ayame somehow, but Scarlett was someone else, and it was hard to control his impulses while drunk. But he knew that was no excuse. Nothing could justify his actions.
“I remembered it was me. I drank a lot that night,” he added.
“Ryosuke,” he heard his father’s voice and closed his eyes.
“I know I deserve to be punished. That’s why I wanted to end my life. I will not be able to go on knowing that I have taken away someone else’s life.” He opened his eyes which became misty. “I’m sorry I’m such a disappointment.”
Both his parents and his sister bowed their heads, not knowing what to say. Ryosuke stared at the white walls and felt empty inside.
?
Lennart entered his work room, ready to find clues related to poisoning. He wanted to review footage sooner, but it was hard to leave Ryosuke’s side.
Let’s start from the beginning.
Scenes he already knew well replayed before his eyes.
Let’s say that poisoning occurred when Scarlett and her husband were at the bar. I need to check on everyone who was in her close vicinity.
First, Scarlett and her husband approached Björn and his girlfriend’s table. They greeted each other briefly and the couple went to search for an empty table. After some time another couple joined them, they sat together, drank wine and talked. Lennart found information about who these people were and decided it was about time to interview them as well.
Maybe they’ll have some useful information. And I need to interview Maya as well.
The next thing that caught his eye was that Maya passed Scarlett and her husband’s table twice, at suspiciously close distance. Lennart paused and replayed those parts a couple of times, but it was impossible to see if there was anything more to that since a lot of people mingled through the bar when Maya was near. He found footage from other cameras as well, but those tapes didn’t reveal much either.
Damn. I’d better go and talk to her right now.
At that moment it came to him that he knew absolutely nothing about Maya. He located her on cameras and saw her passing the corridors on the floor with medical rooms.
She is probably on her way to see Björn.
Lennart stormed out of the door.
?
Björn sat on the bed and watched his IV drip. His memories on previous days were coming back to him and he started to put together the missing pieces.
He remembered who Scarlett was and began to reminisce about the times they had spent together. Although it wasn’t his style, he realized he missed her.
Who could have killed her? And why? I will kill him with my bare hands when I find out.
Björn felt his blood boil. He was ready to go searching for the murderer himself.
If my brother doesn’t find who did it. I will.
While he was deep in thought, he heard someone open the door. When he saw Maya’s smiling face, he had to suppress a grimace.
Why did I even bring her here?
Björn realized that his girlfriend only became a burden to him over time.
