I took his chin and kissed his pretty mouth. When I lifted my head, I said, “You’ve made me a believer.”
Epilogue

“Charles agreed to let me open the restaurant.” Lex’s gaze was bright. “He finally gave in.”
I widened my eyes. “Seriously?”
We were outside on the front porch, and our son, Will, sat on my lap. He was gnawing on my finger with his gums and squealing every few minutes. “Why did he change his mind?”
Lex grinned. “Gabriele wouldn’t let up. He’s going stir-crazy. I have you to keep me happy. Poor Gabriele is bored out of his mind.”
“Has Charles still refused to let Gabriele go into town?”
“Yes. He says an alpha matching Hank’s description was spotted lurking, and it’s too risky to let Gabriele venture from the compound. He knows if Hank can’t get me, he’ll be only too happy to grab Gabriele in my place.”
I shivered at the reference to Hank. I prayed that asshole alpha would just go away, but feared he was just waiting for his chance at revenge. I almost worried more about Gabriele than Lex because he was more vocal about wanting to venture into town. He was lonely, and there weren’t many available alphas to socialize with inside the compound.
“Charles can’t keep Gabriele behind these walls forever.”
“I know. Gabriele is mostly happy here, but he does need… other things too.” Lex grimaced.
“Yeah. It’s a lot to expect him to be celibate the rest of his life.”
“Especially an omega like Gabriele. He had a very active love life before.”
“Poor guy.”
Lex frowned. “How come Charles doesn’t seem to need anyone in his life?”
“There aren’t many female omegas here that are single. Besides, he’s married to his job.”
“God, yes. Gabriele says he never takes days off.”
I grinned. “But you two get to do your restaurant! That’s wonderful.”
He nodded, looking ecstatic. “I don’t want you to worry. We’re only going to do lunch. That way I’m here to help with Will most of the time.”
“Lex, you have every right to do something you enjoy. Besides, I told Dr. Peters I want less hours when I go back next week. I need to be home with Will. That’s what makes me happiest, being home with you two.”
He leaned over and kissed me. “Thank you for being supportive.”
“The compound is going to love your food. I just know it.”
He sighed. “Well, it’s not as prestigious as running a fancy art gallery, or being the head of a mob. But it will give me some self-respect to contribute something.”
“You contribute constantly.”
“I’m an alpha. I need to work.”
“I understand your macho needs. You do you.”
“I’d rather do you.”
My face warmed, and I covered Will’s ears, grinning. “Shhh. You’ll traumatize our child talking like that.”
