I squeezed her ass, and she wriggled on top of me, making my cock ache to be inside of her again. “Just answer the damn question.”
“I’m not sure, but the people who took me said I was just a newborn. They made my adoptive day my birthday. That was around twenty-seven years ago, if the fragments of my memories are telling me the truth.”
Twenty-seven years.I filed that away in my mind as I continued to listen to her talk about her past.
“My mother, Patricia, couldn’t have kids of her own. She was desperate, and her husband was willing to go to whatever lengths necessary to make her happy. She told me that I was still covered in blood, wrapped in a dirty sheet with my umbilical cord still attached when they sold me to her. She tried her best to raise me as her own.”
Her voice had turned sad. I didn’t like it when she was sad. “What do you mean ‘tried her best’? What exactly happened?”
“M-my abilities started to manifest, and it brought trouble to our doorstep. The details are hazy, but I think I had an outburst, and many died, many more becoming casualties…like Maverick.”
Rubbing her back, I stopped asking her questions. I didn’t need to know anymore. The guys were all quiet, probably listening to her story as well. We all had a past, a journey we had been through to get where we were now. It didn’t matter what happened, or where we came from. We could make a new life now, away from Ashborne.
“How long do we have to go?” I asked Reed. We had been driving for a while, and night had already fallen again.
“Not sure, but if my estimates are correct, we’re probably over halfway to Blackmeadow. I’m running the camper along the border of Clan Disaris territory.”
“We should keep driving through the night and only stop during the day, in case we run into bloodsuckers,” Gunner said.
“Roger that.”
The two women were silent as they sat beside Samuel. The mother looked malnourished, but the daughter did not. I watched as Samuel handed her the sandwich he brought with him, breaking it in two.
She smiled softly, cautiously taking it from him and handing half of it to her daughter, who devoured it like she'd been starved for days.
In this shitty existence, we had to not only be wary of bloodsuckers, but of human monsters, as well. Crazy Otis talked about having a leg up in this war. I say, let the vampires kill each other off, and let the rest of us survive and thrive with what we could gather. Half the human population needed to be eradicated, anyway—the stains of humanity.
TappingSili, she stood up, and I grabbed her hand to walk to the back where the seating could be pulled out into a bed. Doing just that, I lied down, pullingSilion top of me, running my hands through her hair.
I was changing. Crazy Otis talked about airborne viruses making the first wave of vampires, but I had a gut feeling that he injected something in all of us. Maybe it started as a vaccine, but even those were just weaker versions of an actual virus.
Sili’sscent of arousal grew as she crossed her leg over me, using her knee to tease my dick.
My mind ran through what I knew about newborn vampires. Their strength, speed, hunger and need for sex.Was that why my libido was matching up with hers?My dick pulsed behind my zipper as I ground her knee down against me some more, humming against the exposed skin of her neck.
“I love the way you bite me. It makes my pussy wet,” she whispered against my head.
My cock twitched in response as I ran my tongue along her skin. I liked it as well, a little too much. I would have to tell the guys to keep an eye out on themselves in case they felt any changes.
“This is when I should tell you to not tempt an old man like me with your young, supple body.”
She giggled against me, and it made me smile.
Twenty-seven years.
The number kept looping through my head as I nipped at her collar bone and she slipped her delicate fingers under the waistband of my pants, running her fingers along my slit.
“Is everything okay?” I asked my wife, Myra.
“I-I think I’m pregnant,” she whispered.
My heart jumped in my chest. I was elated. She was carrying my child. My elation turned into a spike of fear as I wondered how I could protect something so precious in this life.
Myra grabbed my hand and kissed it. “I’m about a month and a half along, I think. I didn’t get my last period.”
Pulling her into an embrace, I rocked us both, kissing the top of her head. “I’m going to need to go on a supply run to find stuff we need.”
“Eliseo, why can’t they get someone else?”
