His face had a soft smile on it, and I was starting to wonder what really happened to me after he killed me off. Morbid scenarios ran through my head, and the anger that was just starting to simmer started to boil again. Flashes of that young girl he mutilated on his bed were still fresh in my mind.
The people gathered behind Devon, and all stared at us. It was eerie, just like this place.
“Do your people know you’re using desecrated flesh to fertilize your lands?” Eliseo barked out.
“Now, now. Let’s not spread such blasphemy.” Devon spread his arms at the same time, palms facing out. “My people know all that happens in this place. I hide nothing. It is why they choose to follow my lead.” His smile morphed from calm to menacing as the people behind him began to march forward.
Ratatatat!Gunshots rang out as the rest of our men came out from their hiding spots behind the villagers, spraying the people down with bullets. A row of humans fell to the ground like puppets with their strings cut, but it didn’t stop the rest of them from continuously moving forward as if nothing had happened.
Grabbing the pistol on me, Eliseo did the same as we let off shots to the ones closest to us. Moving back, we hid behind barrels and houses, adding to the gun fire when we could.
A can got thrown, rattling and rolling towards Devon’s feet, but he kicked it and it hit one of his people in the head, knocking him against two others. No one got angry, no one said a word. The people climbed back to their feet and continued forth.
A memory pricked in the back of my mind and supplied me with what I needed to know. “Eliseo. We need to take down Devon. I think the people here are thralls; Devon is controlling them. He must be a vampire!”
“Fucking hell, can’t missions be simple?” he said with exasperation.
Hsssss! The can finally released its smoke and the guys put on their gas masks. Ours were left back in the house, so we kept our distance where we were and let the men mow down the rest of the people.
Was it wrong of me to feel no remorse for possibly eliminating an entire compound?
Suddenly, Reed flew out of the smoke and hit the side of one of the houses with a loud crash, groaning and falling to the ground. My eyes saw red again. That asshole High Father would pay for what he did.
Before Eliseo could hold me back, my body went into motion, cutting through the smoke at a rapid speed. The scent was so strong, I couldn’t smell anything else, but my instincts led me right to the one I was searching for. His back was facing me, hands coated in someone’s blood when I swept his feet from under him, taking him to the dirt ground.
The thralls around us started to moan, and I was taken back to a vision in my past.
“What is this? Someone Clan Letos cannot control? How fascinating…” the first vampire purred as he gripped his fist around my neck even harder.
His thralls stood by, staring into the distance with no expression on their faces.
“Hey, don’t kill her yet. I haven’t had my turn, you selfish prick.” The second vampire licked his lips as his hand continued to stroke his cock in front of me, the crown of his head glistening with precum.
Claws jabbed into my vagina as I screamed in pain. He fucked me with his hand, spreading me open beyond my body’s capability and scratching my insides right before he jerked his hand out and threw me onto the ground, face down. The second vampire took the opportunity to shove his disgusting cock against my lips and I bit down, the taste of warm copper overflowing in my mouth.
They would all pay for what they did to me!
Leaping onto his back, my legs wrapped around his midsection as my nails clawed into his neck, pulling outwards. He struggled and gurgled on his own blood, trying to dislodge me, but I bit down and ripped his flesh with my teeth, spitting it to the side.
He fell forward just as the smoke started to dissipate, the blood squirted in a wide arch from the severed artery. The spray of his life force against my face didn’t cool down the inferno that grew inside.
Clan Letos can all go to hell!
“Sili!”
“Shit, someone grab her! They’re still moving!”
It was Samuel’s proclamation that made me snap my head up and look around. The thralls continued to come at me. My gun slipped in my grip as I tried to aim it at the closest one. A shot fired off but missed the closest thrall, until Gunner decapitated it in front of me. The head bounced and rolled to the side until a black boot stepped on it, stopping its movement.
My eyes tracked up and saw that it was the man from the High Father’s room.Brother Elijah. His face was set in a scowl as he stared at the dead body beneath me.
“You dare kill our High Father?” he sneered as he moved with inhuman speed and grabbed me by the throat with both hands.
Damn, another vampire?
My left fist landed on his face, snapping his head to the side where I proceeded to pistol whip him with my right. A scarlet streak bloomed across his cheek when he turned back towards me slowly. One of his eyes was bloodshot, and half of his face was caved in from my knuckles, but it didn’t stop him from opening his mouth and trying to fit my head in it.
It was as if everything moved in slow motion, the way his saliva strung from his fangs, to the way the smell of copper overtook the area, and the heat of his breath over my head. My forehead perspired from everything that occurred, and I felt it run down the side of my face.
