Page 46 of Marked for Execution
The men dried themselves in the sun shirtless, rubbing their heads with their dirty clothes. The sound of a splash made us all look asSilibroke the surface, emerging as the water slid off her pristine skin. Not a scratch, not a scar. The globes of her ass peeked above the water, and Reed groaned. Gunner’s eyes were unashamedly glued to the sight, and I couldn't blame him—though I did, anyway.
My eyes snapped to them both and I curled my lip. Reed needed to keep his hands off her. He thought I didn’t see the way he kissed her hair while he calmed her. He was just lucky I was willing to try anything to help relaxSiliduring her breakdown. As for Gunner, I would have to keep an eye on him, too.
Samuel was spread out on the ground with his hands behind his head, and his eyes closed.
When I turned back around, I sawSilibent over, wringing out her unbraided, wet hair. My cock twitched, and I tried to hide it. This mission would kill me. Trying to tamp down my erection, I thought about what happened with the vampire that was on top of her.
One minute he was there, the next, he fell over without warning. What happened? Was there something elseSiliwas not telling me?
I was lost in my thoughts when Gunner and Reed jumped up. I turned my head to findSilistaring at me, covered in one of my shirts. Gunner was the smallest guy in the group at one hundred and sixty pounds. His extra pair of pants fit her better than any of ours.
She stood there looking like a drowned kitten as I rose and waited for her to say something. Her eyes roamed over my chest and shoulder, and my eyes burned with desire.
I watched in confusion as she leaned down and grabbed her ripped-up shirt, tearing it into strips.
“Sit down, Eliseo.”
We all obeyed her as she tied the material together and wrapped my wounds. My chest felt tight, but not from her makeshift bandages. When she was satisfied, she addressed us all.
“You guys ready?”
“Yup. We got half a tank left; let’s make it count. How far are we from the place you remember, Fitri?” Samuel dusted off his pants and grabbed his bag. We all followed suit and began trekking back to the car.
“It’s about two miles off. We’ll make it with gas to spare.”
“What do we need to know?” I asked her.
She scrunched her face and concentrated, wrinkles forming between her brows. “It reminds me of a cult. Pleasant on the outside. Everything looks too good to be true. They had me in chains while I was there, so I can’t tell you much more than that.”
“How did you end up in chains?” Gunner asked.
She looked at him with a forlorn expression. “I healed.”
Gunner’s mind ran a mile a minute as he continued to stare intently at her. “Fitri, is there something I’m missing here?”
“Look. There are some things you guys are going to find out anyway.Siliis different from us, but she’s not a bloodsucker,” I supplied, placing my hand behind her neck for comfort, massaging her.
“And you’re fucking. We gotthatpart already,” Samuel said with a smirk.
I slapped him upside the head, and he cackled. Gunner still hadn’t stopped staring, and Reed had a scowl on his face.
We made it back to the car in silence and rode down the road for another two miles.
“Take a right here,”Silileaned forward to point out.
Samuel twisted the wheel and took us all off-road. “You sure?”
“I’m sure. This site haunts my nightmares sometimes. It’s hard to forget,” she said matter-of-factly. I wondered what else happened here when she was put in chains.
“Alright,” Samuel replied as we wove through the trees until we saw a clearing up ahead.
“Don’t let them see you. We’ll come in like we’re traveling on foot,” I told him. The guys nodded, and we hid the vehicle behind a large bush.
Everyone checked their weapons and grabbed their bags.Who was to say the car wouldn’t get jacked while we were gone?I looked toSili, who stood stock-still and stared at the town with a blank expression.
“Will they recognize you?” I asked to break the silence and pull her out of her trance.
She turned to me with worry in her eyes. “I don’t know. They thought they got rid of me.”
