“He doesn’t need to be pissed at her. I’m fucking pissed! You could have died!”

She cradled my face in her palms. “I always come back.”

“Fucking hell, what if you don’t? That’s not a chance I’m willing to take. What the hell does the doc have over Hannah for her to be so easily blackmailed?”

Siliturned away, then buried her face into my chest. Was this girl code? Was she not going to tell me? What good was girl code if the fucking girl put her in dangerous situations? After seeing that prisoner down there, who knew what Crazy Otis had in store for her? I highly doubted he wanted her down there for a fucking talk.

Fuck, I was pissed!

I let her go and exited the room. Since the amputation, I had moved most of my stuff downstairs. I was glad for it now. Walking to the kitchen, I washed my hands in the sink, wet a cloth, and wiped my dick down, tossing the dirty rag back into the sink. Grabbing the shirt on the back of the couch, I put it on. I snatched the cargo pants off the floor and got dressed in jerky movements.

“Eliseo?”

“Get your ass dressed,Sili. I’m going to have a talk with Samuel.”

“What? No! You can't!”

Turning slowly with my eyes blazing fury, I asked, “Why can’t I? His fucking woman almost gotminekilled.”

She choked but didn't say anything, because she knew it was true. “Sili.Don’t make me tell you again. Get your ass covered with something and let’s go.”

Her eyes burned, and my dick twitched. I didn’t have time for this attitude of hers. Once she was dressed, I grabbed her hand, and we headed out the door and across to the south side.

When we reached Samuel’s street, we could already hear them fighting through his curtained door.

“What the hell were you doing, Hannah?”

“I didn’t mean to!”

My head snapped toSili,who flushed.

Climbing the steps, I pushed the curtain to the side to find Hannah with her arms wrapped around herself and Samuel punching the wall with his fist.

“You could have gotten her fuckingkilled!”

“He would kill you!”

“I don’t give a shit about that. I can die any day out there going on stupid runs for this damn place. We shouldn’t have to prepare for war on the inside of our own damn community!”

“What did you just say? What the fuck is happening?” I cut into their conversation, making them both turn in our direction.

“Fitri! I swear I’m sorry.”

Sili’seyes burned hot, and now I was about to kill Hannah. I might not even need to know the reason anymore if she put us all in danger.

“Hannah, I can’t be with someone I don’t fucking trust anymore. Get the hell out of my house!”

“Samuel! I love you!”

“What the fuck? You love me enough to get one of my own killed? That doesn’t make any damn sense. Listen to yourself!”

“I didn’t know what to do!”

“You should have fucking told me!Me!The threat was against me! I would have handled it!”

“Please…”

“Get. Out! I don’t want to fucking see your face right now!” Samuel flipped a side table, taking a plugged-in lamp with it, crashing to the wall.
