Page 80 of Marked for Execution
Rolling my neck, I tried to control the fury rising within me to keep a clear head about what needed to be done.Fuck!I was seeing red. My shoulder bunched up in preparation for me to aim.
“You never did want to play with me, Faheema. Always scared what your father would think about you—until you took the whole damn community down during one of your tantrums.”
Her hands gripped his arm wrapped around her neck, trying to pry it loose. My mind went through different possibilities of how to throw this knife in his good eye.
“Who the hell are you?” she gritted out.
“I’m offended you don’t remember. How could you? We were too young. My face wasn’t fucked up yet. Thanks to you, I was able to slip by without even stirring a memory. To think, Conner’s only daughter showing up here with not one man, but four. What would your father say about that, hmm?”
I watched asSili’sface morphed from concentration to hate, my own mood mirroring hers. Quick as lightning, she twisted enough to push his knee down with extra force and grabbed her knife. I threw mine with more strength than I anticipated, missing him as he turned to try and mountSiliwith his leg on top, lodging it deep into the grass beside him, making the hilt disappear. Unlucky for him, he met her blade in his inner thigh, blood spraying on her cargo pants from the artery she severed.
He opened his mouth to scream, but I quickly threw my fist in his face, inadvertently shoving my knuckles in his mouth and shattering his teeth, lodging it in his throat.Silipulled her knife out and he fell to the ground, unmoving except for his eyes, filled with evil intent.
“Sili,is your skin…”
“No. It’s on my knife.”Fucking hell. I got lightheaded from how fast my erection grew at her brilliance.
Bringing my fist to the front of my face, I watched as the broken skin turned into light scratches. What the hell was happening right now?
“I do remember you, Maverick. I never meant to hurt you then, but I mean to now, after what you’ve done. Fuck you.”Silislammed her knife into his neck and chest and lodged it in his good eye, leaving it there.
She walked slowly to grab the backpack that fell off her and looked to me with her hand out. “Let’s go; they’re waiting for us.”
Shoving my thoughts to the back of my mind, I grabbed her hand, and we continued our way along the north wall until we reached the guard tower.
Siliwatched from the bottom as I quickly climbed up and leapt into the tower, taking out the guard by twisting his neck. He dropped like a ragdoll, and I took his rifle, looking down the other side to see where the rest of the men were.
Samuel came out the side door of the garage and waved at us. Sliding down the ladder,Siliand I quietly made it across the other side, slipping in the side door.
“We’re going to have to break through the garage door and gate. You think this vehicle is going to handle it?” Samuel asked.
“Why do we have to break through the garage door?”Siliquestioned.
“It’s automated. If we open it up, the neighbors can hear it.”
“So, we need a distraction.” This girl would have me tossing her down in this car to fuck her with all this quick thinking.
“Reed, you got anything we can use?” I asked.
“Let me look.”
We all waited as he rummaged through his bag and pulled out a grenade.
“Where the hell did you get that?” Gunner exclaimed.
“Dude, I’ve been saving it for a rainy day. Found it a while back. You never know when you need one.”
“You got that fucking right. Who’s going to throw it?” Gunner looked at all of us. We all looked at each other.
“Let’s get this garage open and just toss it towards the town center. That should cover the sound of us driving through the metal gate.”
“Sounds like a damn plan. Let’s do this,” I told them as we rearranged ourselves so that Reed could sit by the back passenger side window.
“Let’s go!”
The garage hummed as it moved up. The moment it gave us enough room to exit, Samuel stepped on the gas. Putting it in reverse, he went back far enough to give us enough momentum to slam into the gate.
“Now, Reed!”
