"And you've done some deceitful shit during that time," I interrupted. "But this takes the cake. My brother sent you towork for me. And I looked over your minor fuck ups for his sake. But this shit can’t be forgiven."
There were procedures to go through if I wanted bodies gotten rid of. And sometimes I used the Cattaneos for it. But this cover-up had nothing to do with either of our families. That made it a setup, not a clean-up. And motherfuckers would have to pay for that.
Facing Julian, I asked, "Do you want me to kill him, or do you want to do it?"
I hadn’t planned to take a life this morning, but this couldn’t be helped.
"I thought about burying him here with these bodies,” Julian drawled, staring down at Louis’ weak ass.
Wait. He wanted to bury him with these bodies? Not happening. These bodies weren’t my responsibility. They were getting taken back to the people who’d killed them. Let them deal with the fallout.
"Hell no," I objected. "Not to the burying him part. You can definitely bury him here. But these bodies are getting dropped back off to the motherfucker who killed them. I'm having them delivered to Aaron's fucking doorstep."
"That won't send a good enough message,” Julian told me. “He'd just have them disposed of again. Let's send them to his office. Have the bodies waiting inside when the staff shows up in the morning."
That would definitely send a message. My little brother knew a girl who worked there. I’d see if he could talk her into going to work early tomorrow and being the one who contacted the authorities before Aaron Clark showed up and tried to hide the evidence.
"Let's do it,” I agreed.
Julian turned to one of his guys. "Get a crew in to prepare the bodies and deliver them in the morning to Clark ConstructionCompany. Then, finish prepping the site and begin pouring. Make sure Louis is secure so he doesn't cause a lump in the foundation."
Yes. Because this foundation had to be perfect.
"Got it, boss," Julian’s guy said as Louis wailed.
The man sounded like a banshee.
"Shut the fuck up before you alert my wife to this shit," I ordered.
But Louis continued wailing.
Julian patted me on the shoulder. "Let's go before your wife comes looking for you."
“Yeah. And I’ll work on the NDA so we follow protocol with having Louis buried here later today.”
“No problem.”
Together, we turned and headed back to the parking area, chatting about the situation with Aaron Clark and Clark Constructions as we walked. I couldn’t believe that bastard had one of my own dump bodies at my site.
His goal had been to take out two prominent families with one crime scene. Recently, the Clark family started showing interest in buying failing hotels and renovating them. Bak Resorts were their biggest competition in the local hotel industry.
And when it came to construction jobs, the Cattaneos were their biggest competition. Those fuckers were trying to take two rival companies out with one criminal investigation. As long as either company was being investigated, neither could handle business as usual.
That would propel Aaron and his family to the top.Smart. Unfortunately for them, Aaron’s plan failed. Instead, he was going to get his problems dropped right back off to his weak ass. And he’d be the one with his businesses on hold while he went through a criminal investigation.
As for Louis, I told Julian I’d handle the cover story since he was one of my guys. I’d just make it look like he’d run off, leaving his family behind, because he’d been embezzling money and knew he was close to being found out.
That plan was solid and wrapped up any loose ends that could unravel later. In the end, neither of our companies should be implemented in Aaron’s investigation. By the time we made it near my car, we already had a plan in place.
But before my car came into view, Noe did.Shit. She was heading my way. I couldn’t let her get closer. I sped up, making my way toward her. Instead of going his own way, Julian followed me.This motherfucker!
“I got worried,” Noe told me, sounding sweet and innocent.
But I knew better. What was she up to?
“Is everything okay?” she asked, smiling up at me.
The anger drained out of me instantly with that one smile.
