Page 30 of His True Mate
“How soon?”
“Pretty sure she was already strapping the kids into their seats.”
I groaned.
“What’s going on?” Winnie asked.
“Lily Collier is about to descend. I’m sorry.”
“Sorry? Why?”
“My mate,” Thomas explained. “She’s a bit protective of the Six Pack andveryexcited to meet you.”
“The Six Pack?”
“That’s what people around here have been calling us since we were just kids. Six of us boys always ran together. Thomas, me, Wyatt, Austin, Emmett, and James. No doubt the others will be around to meet you as soon as they get word.”
“Oh,” she said, biting her lip again.
“I can hold them off a few days if you want to settle in first. They really do mean well.”
Tires screeched outside followed by the slam of a car door.
“Too late,” Thomas warned.
“Can I at least change? In our rush to leave I never changed out of my show clothes.”
I got up and walked her back to the bedroom. “Bathroom’s just in here. It’s small, but functional.”
“Small? You should see the one I shared with my parents in our little trailer. Relax, cowboy. I don’t need much, and I can pull my own weight around here.”
I smiled. “Take your time.”
I surprised us both by kissing her cheek before quickly walking away to greet Lily and the girls.

Chapter 8
Collier Pack?
I hadn’t even thought to ask. He’d had two others with him, though, so I knew he wasn’t a lone wolf. I should have asked about his Pack. I was just so overwhelmed by the whole finding my mate thing that I hadn’t thought about it.
I didn’t have anything against Collier. It was just that I was raised to avoid large Packs at all costs. Collier, Westin, Longhorn, and New York were among the most notable. I knew we ran shows near all four at times, but we were particularly careful not to cross territory lines.
Now here I was in Collier with the Alpha sitting in the next room.
Even though he told me I was welcome here, I still had this feeling of doom hanging over my head waiting for the other shoe to drop or something.
This couldn’t be real.
It had to be a trap and I needed to get out quick.
I did take time to shower and change first. There was no reason I should go on the run in day old show clothes. Having my jeans and shirt on made me relax some.
All I needed now was an exit.
I checked the windows. It was a one-story house so the drop wasn’t too bad. I held my breath as I opened it and then pushed my bag through first.
