Page 91 of His & Hers
"You're drunk," he sighed, and my heart ached upon hearing his voice.
"I need to pee, been waiting for ages. You know what these fucking restrooms are like."
"Well, no, I don't need to wait in my own home."
Ouch.
"Fine, Mr. Mafia, I have to pee now."
The restroom door slid open in front of me as I ran in, tugging my pants around my ankles as I finally felt the relief after waiting so long.
"Alice, are you pissing?"
Oh shit.
"Sorry, I'm going.”
Suddenly some guys invaded the girl's restroom, hollering and cackling before running out.
Wankers.
"Where are you?" he demanded quietly as I leaned against the tiled wall.
"I'm not with you."
"Alice. Where are you, don't make me ask again."
"Remember the club I was at when you came to get me after we first met..."
"I'd rather forget that night," he said quietly before hanging up.
The line went dead as I stared at the phone.
That was it?
I blinked, tears filling my eyes.
He was over me.
I was now angry at myself for being so fucking stubborn and stupid. I'd lied to him when I said I didn't want his children.
I did. I could imagine them with his exquisite green eyes, his dark hair, and my full lips. I just didn't want to be a young mother. I didn't want to have any regrets.
The damage, however, was done. I'd said the words and hurt him deeply. He had left me and not spoke to me since. Nothing made the pain in my chest go away.
I was Alice Fallon, and I didn't need a man.
I was independent, strong—suddenly I felt sick, swallowing as I tried to inhale and exhale with a steady rhythm. My stomach churned as I smoothed my dress down, pulling open the door to try to find Rachel.
"I thought you'd done a runner," I heard Charlie chuckle into my ear, sweeping my hair away from my neck as he kissed it roughly.
"I feel sick, Charlie," I groaned as he nodded.
"Let's get you outside. Some fresh air will help." Charlie winked, hooking his arm around my waist as he guided me to the exit.
Once we were outside, he rubbed my back before telling me how beautiful he thought I was. I couldn't respond as my mouth felt like it was stuffed with cotton wool, the vodka I'd drank earlier promising to make an appearance anytime soon. I leaned against the wall as he gazed at me, dipping his head towards me as I turned away.
"Charlie, I need to go home. I'm sorry.” I moved past him as I went to walk away, his hand catching mine as I groaned inwardly.
