Page 4 of His & Hers
Men didn’t faze me in theslightest—my dad was Cal Fallon, for crying out loud; I’d learned from the best. But this creature was striking. Truly stunning, like the Gods had crafted him for females.
I walked past him as he inhaled sharply, making me almost lose my footing as I moved away.
“Please, have a seat. I’m Lucas Deacon.”
His voice had an accent, and it was making me wet just listening to him.
Wait, what?
He sat down in front of me and steepled his fingers together, his eyes locking onto mine as he gazed at me.
“Name?”
“Miss Fallon,” I declared, dropping my bag to the floor beside me.
“Name?” Lucas repeated with an exasperated sigh.
Was he fucking dense?
“Didn’t you hear me?” I laughed, and his eyes darkened.
“Are youmockingme?” he asked, his tone deadly.
I blinked, shrugging.
“Myfullname is Alice Fallon.”
“Was that sodifficult?” Lucas snapped, sifting through the paperwork on his desk.
“You didn’t do very well in school, Alice,” Lucas remarked with irritation.
Anger sliced through me.
“With all due respect, this job is for aPA.” I narrowed my eyes at him as he looked up at me.
“I know that. What I’m failing to understand is how you even made it to this stage.”
My mouth fell open.
“There’s no point continuing. I need someone with a higher level of education than you.”
Lucas waved at me dismissively as I shoved the chair away from me.
“To makeyoua fuckingcoffee? Jesus, what aprick.”
I grabbed my bag, furious that I’d wasted my time.
Lucas stood up, striding towards me as he grabbed my arm.
“What thefuckdid you just call me?”
“Get your hands off me! You donotknow who you are dealing with,” I hissed as Lucas pulled me closer to him.
“A self-entitled bitch who seems to think she’s owed something. Guess what, beautiful? You’re just another pretty face.”
He released me but didn’t move away.
“Get out,” Lucas ordered as I stared at him.
