LAYLA: I’m jealous.

ZANE: You did ask who my fictional crushes were...not my real one.

LAYLA: One?

ZANE: You know the answer to that. Anyway... I’m in my room now. I need a shower. You tired yet?

LAYLA: Sorry, I stopped listening at the word shower…

Was she serious? I stripped off, debating how to reply. How would Caleb respond?

ZANE: Behave, Layla. But if you want to watch the rest of the film with me, I’m not tired.

LAYLA: Do you have it?

ZANE: God, yes. All of them. I’m pretty obsessed with films...#geek

LAYLA: It’s pretty late :(

ZANE: Indeed. Where’s Steven?

LAYLA: Steve, not Steven! He’s out tonight.

ZANE: Oh. Well, I’m not. :)

LAYLA: Only if we watch it from the beginning.

ZANE: We’ll be up all night.

LAYLA: Sleep is overrated anyway.

ZANE: Uber? I’ll order it now for you.

LAYLA: Okay :) I’ll bring my popcorn…

I was nervous. It was midnight, and she was coming to mine to watch one of the best films in the world.

Why did she have to be getting married?

I ordered the Uber before showering quickly. Layla arrived within fifteen minutes, and I opened the door before she could knock.

She grinned at me as I gestured for her to come in.

“Is everyone asleep?” she whispered, her eyes darting around.

“Well, Mom and Dad took Alice away for a few days. It’s just you and me, kid.” I chuckled as I saw her relax.
