Page 22 of His & Hers
Since I’d left, the agency had inundated me with them begging for me to return to them.
So much for complaints.
“Zane, I worry about you,” my mother sighed from behind me as she wrapped her arms around my waist.
I towered over her, so it was easy to pull her into my arms for a hug.
“Is this because I’m not like Caleb?” I asked quietly, her eyebrows shooting up to her hairline as she looked at me in surprise.
“Good Lord, no, the world doesn’t need another Caleb Fallon. You’re perfect as you are. I just wonder why you haven’t met anyone yet... I worry you’re keeping something from us.”
“I’m honestly not gay.” I laughed as she colored slightly.
“Honey, I don’t give a damn who or what you are. I just want you to know I love you regardless. If you’re happy, I’m happy. Have you heard from the agency?”
Mom didn’t like me escorting, but she understood why I did it. Easy money and interesting company- no brainer. I think she was secretly pleased when she found out I wasn’t sleeping with any of them.
“Yes. Lots of humble pie being eaten, put it that way.”
We grinned at each other as she kissed my cheek.
“Such a stunning boy. When you were a baby, everyone thought you were a girl. All long lashes and cupid bow lips. Now, look at you.” She was so proud of us, my mom. We could do no wrong in her eyes, no matter what.
“Rosie and Layla are coming over soon. Is Charlie still coming?”
I shook my head.
“No, her boyfriend is over tonight. I’m going to the cinema with her tomorrow. There’s a silent movie on.”
“Ah. Well, enjoy that. I’d use it as an excuse to get some sleep.” Mom chuckled as I rolled my eyes in response.
“I’ll go see if Dad needs any help with the barbecue.”
“Ha. Good luck.” Mom winked before walking upstairs to get ready. I made my way to the garden, picking up a beer from the ice bucket on the table.
“Here he is. Myfavorite,” dad declared as I walked over to him. “Get your old man a beer, son.”
Old man or not, he still had it. When I was younger, all the older sisters of my friends would be talking about Cal and Caleb Fallon like they were gold dust. I handed him my beer before grabbing another for myself. He wore a rust-colored grandad shirt over his denim shorts, his electric green eyes hidden by super large shades.
“Dad, how do you still look thirty?”
“Lots of sex, son. Lots of sex.”
I wished I hadn’t asked.
“How was the big apple?”
“Big.” I grinned as he chuckled.
“I don’t miss it at all.”
The front door slammed as I heard my brother yell, ‘honey, I’m home.’ Caleb strolled out, a heavily tattooed version of my dad.
“Alright fuckers?” He smirked as he grabbed me in a headlock, ruffling my hair. His beautiful wife Jade followed him out, reaching out for me as she kissed me on both cheeks.
“Oh Caleb, your brother is getting more handsome every time I see him.” Jade teased as he threw me a look.
“He couldn’t please you the way I do, baby.”
