Page 60 of His Atonement
"Yes, you will.” I step closer, and lean a little. "Give me that bottle."
“No." Zan starts crawling toward the opposite side of my bed. "This is my booze. Until you accepts my as your mates you can get your own damn bamboozle."
"Zan!" I grab his ankle, which isn't going to do shit because he could probably kick me across the room with the simplest twitch, but I do it anyway and tug. "Give me the vodka right now or I'm going to…"
My mind goes completely blank.
Totally empty.
No words run through my head at all.
"You are going to, what?" Zan rolls on his side to face me, and squints unfocused eyes. "Frankie?"
I shake my head, and blink about a million times. "Just give me the bottle, Zan. You've obviously had enough since you broke into my house naked."
"Bah!" He scoffs as he resumes crawling away from me, which also means he's dragging me since I'm still holding his leg. "I was wearing the cloths when I broke in, which is super easy to do by the ways. I did not get naked until I was already here in the side."
"Great. That means when you hand me that bottle and get your shit together you have something to put on before you leave!"
"I ams not leaving until you forgive my apology and mates my acceptance."
"What?" I let go of his leg just in time for Zan to reach the edge of the mattress and apparently I was the only thing keeping him on it because the second I sit up, Zan drops right off the bed and onto the floor with a thud. "Zan!"
I scurry to the side and look down, then immediately look back up because Nic Cage is no longer strategically placed. I scowl as Zan starts cackling.
"What? You have no interest in mys dick?" He chuckles then grunts. "Thank the gods I did not spill the boozey."
"Are you covered?"
"Yes, yes mys dick is covered though I do not understand why you keeps insisting that I am hidden all the way. It does little good for my ego."
I roll my eyes. "I wasn't trying to hide you away or make you some dirty secret, Zan. I… you know what, no. We aren't having this conversation until you're sober."
"I can be sober," he says as he lays sprawled out on the floor like a starfish, tips back the bottle and adjusts Nic Cage on his dick. "I ams so super sober."
"Zan, just give me the bottle, ok? Just hand it over and I promise we will talk, I won't even kick you out until—"
My phone starts blaring6 Foot 7 Footand I groan, pull it from my pocket, then snort as Zan closes his eyes and starts rapping the words.
He may be so super drunk but goddamnit, it's kind of cute.
"You like this song?"
He nods. "I do. I find I enjoy tiny Wayne very much."
"Tiny Wayne? You mean Lil Wayne."
"I said what I meant, meant what I said. I ams one hundred percent elephant."
"And now you're misquoting Dr. Seuss." I giggle really hard. "Who even are you?"
Zan's eyes open slowly, the amethyst so vibrant and a little glassy. "I am yours, my darling girl. That is who I even am."
My entire body burns as we lock eyes, every inch of my flesh on fire.
Those words, fuck they strike a chord somewhere deep inside and feel so goddamn right I could cry.
But Zan is obviously hammered and we can't have any serious conversations right now, especially ones that take place while he is also very naked.
