I don’t know what the fuck went through Millie’s head when she came here, but it ain’t fuckin’ safe and I may have just been harsh with her, but I had to get her outta here fast.

“Dev, I assume?” The girl standing in front of me is half-dressed and smiles seductively. She seems so unfazed by everything that’s happening around her, it has me wondering if she’s under the influence of something.

“How do ya kno–”

“Corey speaks about you a lot.” She takes hold of the front of my cut. “Tells me he’s gonna be a member some day too.”

“Keep your hands to your fuckin’ self.” I shove her off me, and she laughs as she stumbles backward.

“So you like it like that, too, huh?” Placing herself on the bed, she tries her best to make herself look appealing.

“What the hell are you talking about?” I shake my head, wondering how such a pretty girl could have become such a mess.

“Well, I think…your brother's girlfriend discovered his little secret. Surprised you don’t know about it, too.”

“She ain’t his girlfriend, she’s min—what fuckin’ secret?

” I glare at her, waiting for an answer.

I know this place ain’t just a strip joint, it’s a fuckin’ whore house.

It’s owned by the Russians, and given the fact that they do a helluva lot of deals with the Irish, every second my girl spent here put her at risk.

“I guess she’s all cut up and hurt because your little brother comes to me to get what she refuses to give him.

” The girl pouts and giggles at the same time.

“He doesn’t think she’d be into the same things he is, though I’m wondering if he’s wrong; she had a little fire.

” Her voice is going straight through me.

“Are you telling me Corey was fuckin’ you?” I check I’m getting this right.

“He used to, I haven’t seen him in a while. I figured his pretty little princess finally put out for him.” My phone vibrates in my pocket, and when I see a text from Vike saying he and the girls are on their way back to the club, I relax a little.

“Corey’s dead. He died about a month ago,” I explain, feeling that sting of guilt in my chest that I’m never gonna get used to. “And I need to know what kinda things you mean.” I don’t wanna believe any of this is true, and I’m trying real hard to ignore how upset Millie is about it.

“Corey liked to treat me a certain way,” the girl explains, casually lighting herself a cigarette. “He liked me to pretend I didn’t want it, fight back a little. He liked to beat me, to degrade me. Sometimes he’d?—”

“Enough.” I don’t wanna hear anymore.

“You asked.” She shrugs her shoulders and laughs.

“How long?” I blow out a breath and try to remain calm.

“He’s been coming to me for just over a year.

” Standing back on her feet, she moves toward me, exhaling her smoke right into my face.

“Your brother had a dark side, Dev. One he didn't let many people see.” I feel the heat start to burn inside me and quickly back myself outta the room.

My head and my heart start to pound, and I have to shake my head to try to erase the memories from them.

“You know where I am if you need to unleash your dark side, too,” she calls after me as I rush down the stairs and get the hell outta here.

The girls who were dancing are now all crowded around the cunt I knocked out on my way up the stairs. I pass them on my way out the door and jump on my bike.

Riding back to the club, there’s a shiver on my skin that I can’t shake off.

I don’t know how I’m gonna face Millie when I get to her.

I thought I’d made it clear to her before I left this morning that she had to be careful.

She should never have gone to that place.

Vike should never have allowed it, and as for Corey…

I can’t let myself believe that what that girl just told me is true.

The thought of it chills my fuckin’ bones.
