Chapter Twenty-Nine

GIOVANNA

“ A re you nervous?” I asked Luca as we pulled up to the clubhouse.

Today, the clubhouse was throwing a party to celebrate the grand opening of the bakery tomorrow.

Our families had flown in for the festivities.

When I called my mother and invited her, I didn’t expect her to tell Luca’s mother about it, nor did I expect her to call Luca and ask why they hadn’t been invited.

Luca and his father were working on the relationship day by day, and it was getting better with time. Still, neither of us expected them to want to deal with the club directly. But here we were, pulling up to the clubhouse, with our families driving in behind us.

“Not really. Either they’re going to accept the club or they won’t, but this is our life to live whether they like it or not.”

I smiled sweetly before leaning over the armrest and kissing his cheek. “You’re absolutely right about that.”

I had grown to really love the MC lifestyle. Riding on the back of Luca’s bike, meeting the Ol’ Ladies for lunch, and all the kids, had become the norm for me. I wouldn’t change a single thing about my life as of late.

Well, maybe not everything. If I had it my way, Jamie kidnapping me and ultimately losing her life would be something I would change. It had been three weeks since that fateful night, and Jamie’s picture had been plastered all over the local news as a missing person.

Luca had assured me nothing would come back on the club, and so far, he had been right.

The club hadn’t even been questioned about Jamie’s disappearance.

I felt really bad when I saw Jamie’s mother on the news, crying and begging for someone to come forward, but then Luca broke it down for me.

Jamie’s family waited until it was too late to get her the help she needed.

There was no concern for her sister when she approached Cara in that parking lot, nor was there any concern when her cousin decided to pull the stunt she did at the spa.

And even though we didn’t have any concrete evidence, there was no way it was a coincidence that Jamie tried to run me off the road after I left the spa that day.

I would bet my last dollar that Jamie’s cousin called her and gave her my location.

All in all, no one was trying to give Jamie the help she needed until it was too late, and now that was a harsh reality they would have to live with for the rest of their lives.

Once Luca parked the truck, he got out and opened my door, helping me, and then retrieved Gabi from the backseat. Our families stood to the side waiting for us to lead them to the back of the clubhouse, where we could hear a mixture of music and laughs.

“I can’t believe you convinced Dad to leave his detail behind while he spends the day at an MC clubhouse,” Matteo said as he approached us.

Luca chuckled and shook his head. “Little brother, who do you think you’re fooling? I might have stayed away for a while, but I know our father. I’m pretty sure his detail isn’t too far away, while he probably has two birds in the sky.”

Matteo’s eyes lit up with amusement. “Touché, big brother. Touché.”

“Now, let’s get back there. From the smell I’m catching, Cara is on the grill, and that woman is unmatched when it comes to barbecue,” Capone stated.

Luca grabbed my hand as he led me around the back of the clubhouse. As soon as we rounded the corner, Gabi was trying her best to shimmy out of his arms. He placed her on her feet, and she took off toward the pool where Crystal was already waiting with a life vest for her.

The pool was filled with kids, including her crew. There were several bounce houses spread throughout the yard, and a few of the brothers were tossing a football.

“Somebody pinch me. I have died and gone to hot biker heaven,” Alessia said as she practically drooled, looking at all the brothers.

“Aww, come on, man. Don’t nobody want to hear that.” Niccolò gagged.

“Come on, let me introduce you all to my prez and his Ol’ Lady,” Capone told everyone.

Viper and Cara were oblivious to us approaching them. He was rubbing her stomach while whispering in her ear. Whatever he was saying had her cheeks pink while she squirmed in his arms.

Capone cleared his throat, breaking their love connection. Viper grinned as he scanned our family standing behind us. “Didn’t mean to interrupt, but I want to introduce our families to everyone,” Capone said.

“No problem at all, brother,” Viper replied.

“Everyone, this is the president of the club, Viper, and his Ol’ Lady, Cara.

Cara and her sister, Sara, are also responsible for bringing Lil Bit back to us.

” Luca then proceeded to tell Viper and Cara everyone’s name.

When he got to his father, Cara’s eyes ballooned, and she looked like she had seen a ghost.

“Sara!” she yelled.

Capone and his father looked at each other with worried expressions as Cara continued to stare at Lorenzo in shock.

“What?” Sara asked as she stood next to Cara.

Cara didn’t say a word. She turned Sara’s body until she was facing Lorenzo as well. Just like Cara, Sara’s mouth dropped open and her eyes widened. “Oh. My. God.”

“Capone!” Cara shrieked as she punched him on his good arm.

“What?” he replied in confusion.

“Did you really just walk up in here with the Don of the Ferrari Mafia and think I wouldn’t notice?” As if something hit her, she took a step back. “Wait a minute. Your last name is Ferrari, too. Oooohh, you got some explaining to do.” Cara folded her arms across her chest with a raised brow.

“Can we save this for another day, please?”

“Sure thing. You can explain first thing Monday morning at the office,” Sara demanded, shaking her head. “I can't believe you kept this from us. Your dad is a legend!” she gushed.

With each day, I started to realize that Cara and Sara were truly two different and rare types of women.

Lorenzo laughed while extending his hand and shaking both Cara and Sara’s hands, to which they both squealed like schoolgirls. Luca stood next to me, pinching the bridge of his nose while our families found the entire scene hilarious.

“Okay, okay, I’m done fan-girling for now.

Over there is a tent where we have the food set up.

We have everything you could think of—ribs, burgers, hot dogs, steaks, chicken, and the list goes on.

Help yourself to anything. If you need to use the bathroom, just go through the side door, make a left, and it’s three doors down.

If there’s anything else you all need, just let us know. ”

Just as we were all about to walk away, I heard my mother gasp. “Oh, my lord, what does that woman have on?” My mother curled her lips. I followed her gaze to where I spotted one of the club bunnies, Diamond, coming from the clubhouse in a thong bikini.

I could feel my temperature rising. All the kids were out here. The last thing they needed to see was Diamond’s bare ass cheeks.

“I swear I’m never getting off probation at this point!” Cara exclaimed.

“Probation?” my mother questioned with a frown.

“Yeah. With this guy.” She jerked a thumb Viper’s way. “Trap a woman’s head in your vehicle and drive around a little bit, and all of a sudden you’re unhinged.” She rolled her eyes as she popped the lid to the grill and started flipping meat.

Matteo snickered next to us. “She’s funny.”

“She’s also serious,” Capone told him. That ended his laughter immediately.

Diamond attempted to strut past the group, but Cara grabbed her by the ponytail, yanking her back. “Ahh! What the hell, Cara?” she winced.

“Cara!” Viper scolded her. He wrapped an arm firmly around her waist, keeping her in place.

“Uh-uh. Nope. We are not about to make me the crazy one today. Diamond, you have lost your mind coming out dressed like this in front of all these kids. I’m going to give you two options.

Option A, you can go inside and change into something more appropriate, or Option B, I can throw you on this grill and cook you slowly. The choice is yours.”

“What?! It's just a bikini. Come on, Viper, the bunnies dress like this all the time,” she pleaded with Viper.

“Not in front of the kids and you know this. Go change!” he barked.

“Ugh! Fine. All this because you all want to keep knocking up your Ol’ Ladies,” she muttered as she walked.

Cara’s head jerked back as she attempted to go after Diamond. Viper grabbed her hand, bringing her back. “Baby, please. Please let me shoot that bitch just one time,” she begged with her hands in a prayer motion.

“Well, I can see why you love being here. This place is nothing but pure entertainment,” Emilia whispered in my ear, causing us both to giggle.

As I stood off to the side of the pool, I couldn’t help but smile at the scene before me. Our families had completely settled into little groups among the club, and they seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Both of our mothers were seated at a picnic table with Crystal and Victoria, laughing and chatting like old friends.

Lorenzo and Paul were engrossed in their own private conversation.

Matteo and Niccolò had joined that football game with Marco and the brothers.

My sisters were settled in the pool, flirting their asses off while mixing and mingling with some of the Ol’ Ladies.

And then there was Gabi. She and her crew were on top of a canopy float, spraying everyone with water guns and having the time of their lives.

I never in my life thought I could be so content and happy. I was so worried coming here today. I thought there would be at least one hiccup, but there hadn’t been. It had only been laughter and smiles from everyone.

“What are you so happy about?” Luca asked from behind me, breaking my thoughts.

Just as I was about to turn around to face him, his arms came around my waist, pulling my body against his. Instantly, I melted like butter, savoring the moment of being in his arms.

“Look around, babe. This is all I ever wanted.”

He placed a small kiss on the shell of my ear before saying, “Hmm. I’ma need you to elaborate.”

“All I ever wanted was to be with the man I love, have our families come together with no drama, and to just be happy. Not angry, sad, or hurt the majority of the time, with happiness shining in every now and again. To just be filled with joy every day I open my eyes. Now that I have that, I don’t think my life can get any better. ”

Luca spun me in his arms, staring me in the eyes with such an intense look. “You sure about that?”

My brows pinched in confusion. “Sure about what, Luca?”

“That nothing could make you happier?” he asked, just as the corner of his mouth tipped upward.

We stood in silence as he waited for me to answer, but I was lost. I didn’t know what he wanted me to say.

When I didn’t say anything, he chuckled before he reached into his pocket and pulled out a black ring box.

I slapped my hands against my mouth, peering around the pool area.

It was then that I noticed the music had been cut down, and all eyes were already on us.

I turned back to Luca just in time to see him drop to his knee while opening the ring box.

Inside was the most stunning emerald-cut diamond that had to be at least four carats.

“Luca?” I choked out as a tear slid down my cheek.

“You said nothing could make you happier, but what about this?” he asked as he took my hand into his.

“From the moment I laid eyes on you, I knew you were the one. I also knew I had my work cut out for me if I was going to win you over. But you were worth every wall I had to break down to get to your heart. Since you and Lil Bit have been in my life, I’ve been happier than I could ever imagine.

I love waking up to you. While our time together has been short, I have been the happiest I’ve ever been in my life.

I promise to cherish, love, and protect you and Lil Bit forever.

So, will you make me an even happier man and marry me, Sugar? ”

By the time he finished, I was practically sobbing. All I could do was nod my head rapidly. Luca removed the ring from the box, placed it on my finger, and scooped me into his arms while tonguing me down in front of our families and the club. Whistles and shouts came from all around.

“The children are out here!” Thor shouted.

“That’s how they all got here, so hush!” Crystal shouted back.

“Ma, right message, wrong messenger. I don’t want to think about you and Dad doing anything along the lines of this,” Cara retorted, causing everyone in the entire pool area to break out in laughter.

For the next few minutes, we were swarmed by everyone with congrats. I was surprised when my mom told me Luca had already called and asked for my hand in marriage.

It was crazy that I came here broken into a million pieces. I was a shell of the woman I once was, but Luca and this club healed me. Helped me put all the pieces back together. I didn’t even want to know where I would be had I not come here seeking help from the club.

Luckily for me, I would never know because I was here now. My life was now filled with everything I could ever ask for, and I was going to enjoy every single moment for the rest of my life.
