Page 135 of By Invitation Only
We made it to Booker’s room, and I half expected him to maul me as soon as the door was closed. He didn’t. Instead, he sat on the bed, his arms behind him as he leaned back and watched me.
“What are you doing?” I asked, standing between him and the fireplace.
“Just admiring you, gorgeous.”
“Don’t you want to admire me naked?” I was burning with need, my pussy throbbing so bad, wanting to be touched.
“I do, but first I want you to tell me what we’re doing.”
I blinked at him. “You wantmeto tellyouwhat we’re doing?”
“Don’t you want to be in control, baby?”
“Like a Dom?” I laughed, but then it died off because I was questioning if he really meant that. Did he want to be dominated?
He grinned. “No, not like a Dom. I just want you to choose something you truly fancy.”
“I’ve liked it all,” I retorted, crossing my arms over my torso.
“But we haven’t done it all.”
“I know that,” I snorted with a smile.
“Why don’t you open the top drawer of the dresser and pick something you want to try.”
“Like a toy?”
He nodded with a grin. “If that’s what you choose.”
“What else is in there?”
“Floggers, handcuffs, anal plugs, anal beads, vibrators, cock rings—”
“I’ll just look in the drawer.”
When I got to the dark wood dresser and opened it enough to see in, I went left to right analyzing the contents. First was what appeared to be a butt plug with a tail at the end of it. Like a fox tail. Then there were two black, glass balls that I knew were Ben Wa balls, though I’d never tried them. I’d read about them in a popular erotic trilogy years ago and had always wanted to try them. As I reached in, my gaze landed on a black, velvet box in the center of the drawer. Curiosity got the best of me.
“What’s in here?” I asked as I spun around to Booker with the box in my hand.
He wasn’t on the bed. No, he was kneeling before me on one knee.
My breath hitched, and I could have sworn to everything holy that my heart stopped.
“Hand me the box, beautiful.”
Booker reached out his hand, and without saying a word, I handed it to him. I wasn’t even sure I could speak. Was he doing what I thought he was doing?
I stared into his crystal blue eyes that held so much love and passion. He cleared his throat, took a deep breath and then his gaze returned to mine.
“That night you left me here without a goodbye, was the night I knew I wasn’t going to ever let you go. I wasn’t going to give up fighting for you. I got my first taste of you, and I was addicted. You were everything and then some from my fantasies of you. And then you gave me a chance. You let me in.
“When Clint told me he’d reported us, I was prepared to do everything to protect you. I loved you enough to let you choose work over me. I only wanted you happy. Luckily, your dad had better news for us because I don’t know what I would have done if I were to wake up without you next to me. I look forward to you kissing me awake, that sleepy look in your beautiful brown eyes when I know you’re tired, but you’d rather wish me a good day at work than get a few extra minutes of sleep. Those are the moments that make me realize you’re the love of my life. You do things to my heart. You make it beat, you make it have a purpose.”
Tears fell from my eyes as I listened to him.
“So what I’m trying to say…” He lifted the lid, and my eyes dropped to a sparkling, solitaire, round diamond on a silver band. A sob escaped my throat as I watched the diamond radiate from the light of the room. “Peyton, gorgeous, will you marry me?”
I was nodding before he’d said the final word. I rushed the two steps to him and tackled him to the floor.
“Is that a yes?” Booker asked as I looked down into his eyes.
“That depends. Does this make me a Diamond member too?”
“You’ve been a Diamond member from the second I laid eyes on you in court. You just didn’t know it yet.”
Another sob hitched in my throat. If Booker hadn’t been a Diamond member of Sensation, he never would had dragged me up the stairs that first night and I wouldn’t have started anything with him downstairs. Booker’s room was our sanctum; a place that held our secrets, our firsts and the place he first told me he loved me and now the place I agreed to be his wife.
“Then yes, Mr. Romantic, I’ll marry you because, without you, my heart wouldn’t have a reason for beating either.”
