My eyes snapped to Booker. He had fire in his blue eyes, but it wasn’t the lust I was used to seeing. This was rage. He was pissed.
Clint stepped back. “I was just about to inform your girlfriend that you’re leading a double life.”
“What?” Booker and I both said at the same time.
“I was doing research for a client, and came across something our sweet Peyton needs to know.”
“My girlfriend is none of your business,” Booker snapped and stepped up a few stairs to get closer to Clint.
“Maybe so,” Clint agreed. “But if I can crush your world like you did mine, I’m doing it.”
“Well, spit it out, mate. I’m curious what you think you know and Peyton doesn’t.”
I had to admit, I was curious too. I thought for sure I knew everything there was to know about this man.
Clint turned his attention back to me. “Your boyfriend here is married.”
I looked to Booker, him to me, and after we stared at each other for a few beats, we burst into laughter.
“You’re laughing?”
“Yes, we’re laughing, you bloody wanker. Peyton knows I’m married.”
“You do?” Clint asked.
I nodded, still chuckling.
“Good try, mate. And just so you know my entire life’s story, and you can fuck off after this, I filed for divorce. Don’t try and fuck with me again. You won’t win.” Booker clapped him on the shoulder and then grabbed my hand, lacing our fingers. “I’m not going to tell Mitch about this, but do yourself a favor and give up.”
And then we walked down the stairs and left.
It was the monthly Sensation party night. Booker and I were getting ready to drive into the hills of Beverly Hills andplay. It almost felt like any date night, though when we got there, it was anything but: no dinner, no movie, no long walk on the beach. Just right to the sex—or foreplay at least.
I slipped on my Louboutins that I wore each time. They were comfortable and sexy, both things I needed while attending Sensation. Lorelei and Randy were both coming of course. We all rode together either in Booker’s car or a limo if Carrie and Taylor wanted to come at the same time. Sometimes they went on their own so they could leave whenever they wanted. Lorelei had become a Pearl member like me since she and Randy were still going strong. I hadn’t heard the L word from either of them, but I was sure it was coming soon.
The entire way, I noticed Booker would look into the rearview mirror at where Randy was sitting, but they never said anything. They’d just listen to Lorelei talk and talk about random ass shit. That was what we did when we were together. I wasn’t her boss outside of work, and we told each other everything.
Booker pulled into the circular drive and when we finally made it to the red-carpeted steps, Booker pulled up, and the valets opened our doors. Lorelei tugged me up the stairs, not waiting for the guys. After Luke had checked us off, we waited for the guys just inside by the coat check.
“Any plans for tonight?” Lore asked.
I shrugged. “Not sure. I think we’ve done almost everything we can alone.”
“Maybe you should try not alone?”
“That’s not Booker’s thing.”
“Is it yours?” She winked.
Booker walked through the French doors, and I thought about sharing him. “No, not my thing either.”
“What’s not your thing?” Booker asked, smiling.
I returned the smile. “Sharing you.”
His grin widened. “And this is why we’re good together, baby.” He kissed my lips softly, and Randy cleared his throat.
“I know we’re at a sex club, but you two can wait until we get passed the black velvet drapes.”
