Page 11 of By Invitation Only
Ava chugged the rest of her water. “He’ll never go for that. He thinks he makes more money than me.”
“Doesn’t matter if he makes more money. If anything, the judge might award you spousal support because of it. We’ll find out. I’ll get everything filed today before the court closes. I’ll also get a process server to serve him.”
“Trent knows it’s coming soon, and he won’t open the security gate for anyone. He’ll wait until they prepare his papers before he does anything.”
“There’s no reason for him to avoid service if he knows it’s coming.”
She shrugged. “He thinks that if he’s first, he’ll get everything.”
I laughed. “Doesn’t work that way, and if Booker tells him it does, he has another thing coming.”
“Can I serve him? I still need to pack a bag before I stay with my friend while we figure all this out.”
I shook my head. “No, parties can’t serve each other.” I’d dealt with people avoiding service before, but this was different. Celebrities had extra security, so you had to be sneaky. If Trent wasn’t leaving his mansion until Booker told him to, I had to come up with a plan.
“Does Trent know where you are now?” I asked.
“No.” She shook her head. “I just told him last night that I wanted a divorce. I don’t think he’s aware I’ve already started the process.”
“Do you know if he called Booker?”
“Probably not. I think he was going to wait until the next club night.”
My mouth dropped open. “Booker’s a member?”
Ava looked down at her lap, took a deep breath, and then looked back to me. “Yes, but you don’t know that. It’s how we know him.”
I smirked. I thought Mr. Cocky could get any woman he wanted. He sure acted as such. “When’s the next party?”
“Saturday night.”
I was still smirking. “And you said it was by invitation only? MeaningIcould be invited?”
Ava grinned. “Yes, but I’d need to submit the paperwork today so it can be approved by then.”
“What do we need to do?” I asked, still smiling.
“You’ll need to fill out a guest form and also get tested for any STD. But if you come, I don’t want people to know you’re serving Trent with divorce papers.”
I smiled warmly at her. “No one will know and I’ll leave afterward.”
Ava was silent for a few beats and then she asked, “Peyton, would you like to come with me to Sensation?”
I smiled. “Are you inviting me?”
She grinned in return. “Yes.”
I chuckled. “I accept your invitation. Now, what do we need to do to get me in?” I couldn’t believe I was going to serve a client’s husband at a sex club.
Sometimes you had to do what you had to do.
