Story: Free Fire Zone
“Well, compared to a normal guy,” he said. “You know, like a teacher or a banker.”
I rolled my eyes at the comparison. “Hey, I can be just as normal as a teacher or a banker. I have normal guy qualities.”
“Name one,” he said, staring over at me expectantly.
I sat there for a few minutes, trying to come up with something. “Okay, what about this…I like pool.”
He stared at me for a moment, then shook his head. “Ooh, you’re right. How did I miss that?”
I tossed my beer bottle at him in annoyance, glaring at him when he easily swatted it away. “Shut the fuck up. I can be normal. I work with computers. That’s perfectly normal.”
“Yes, but running around shooting people is not.”
“I don’t do that nearly as much as the rest of you,” I pointed out. “I’m like…a cop or a firefighter.”
“Yes, but they’re not lying about who they are.”
“So, you’re saying I couldn’t get just an average woman from this town. I’m doomed to fall for some woman that’s as crazy as Zoe or Eva.”
“I hate to point it out, but…yeah. That’s the way this goes. But hey, don’t beat yourself up too much. You’ll meet your lucky lady. She’s just not the one upstairs currently showering and lathering herself with your body wash.”
If I had another bottle, I’d chuck it at him for pointing that out. “I’m going to check on her.”
“And give her pants!” he shouted as I trudged upstairs.
I couldn’t believe this. Everything was going so right. I thought I finally had her, that I read the signals right. And all this time, she was really not interested. I knocked on the bedroom door, then peeked inside. She was still in the shower, so I headed over to my dresser and found the baggiest pair of sweatpants I could, just to make sure there was nothing too attractive about how she was dressed.
I heard the shower turn off and the door open. Not expecting it, I spun around, only to find her naked once again, just as startled as I was.
“Uh…” Damn, her body was amazing. Her hair was dripping over her shoulders, skimming down her skin that was just the perfect shade of tan. There were even small triangles where her bikini covered her breasts. And those curves…small in comparison to a full-figured woman, but she still had them.
“Shit!” She cried out, ducking back inside. “I can’t find a towel!”
I slapped myself on the forehead. “That’s because I literally just moved in,” I called out, rushing over to the boxes stacked against the wall. I opened one, digging through it and coming up empty. I moved on to the next box, tearing it open and finding the same damn shit.
“Fuck! Uh…Just a minute!” I called out.
Finally, in the fifth box I found my towels, ratty as they were. I couldn’t believe I was handing these over to her. I hurried over, knocking on the door.
“I have a towel for you. It’s big but…” The door cracked open and she held out her hand. “Sorry, it’s not that big. Not that you’re big,” I hurried on, feeling like I just somehow insulted her. “It should cover your breasts. Not that they’re small! Or that I was looking!” I said, slapping myself in the head as she snatched the towel and slammed the door shut.
“Perfect!” I muttered quietly, slapping myself in the head multiple times, just in case it didn’t work the first time. “You’re so fucking stupid! You never comment on a woman’s breasts!”
“Are you alright out there?” she called from inside the bathroom.
“Yeah. Yes! Totally,” I rambled, feeling like the king of the idiots. “Just…getting you some sweatpants.”
“You already gave me something to wear.”
“Right, but this will cover more.”
She didn’t say anything and I had no idea if that was a good or bad thing. I tossed the pants on the bed and walked out the door, shutting it behind me. Letting out a deep breath, I closed my eyes and prayed the rest of the night wasn’t as difficult as that.

I heldup the gigantic sweatpants and grimaced. It wasn’t exactly what I thought he would be asking me to wear since he practically pressed me up against the side of the truck and fucked me with his eyes. I thought for sure he would give me some t-shirt that grazed my ass. What did this mean?
