Story: Free Fire Zone
“In the last week that you’ve known him? No, it never crossed my mind.”
“Well, get used to it. We’re having a little get-together next week to let everyone share in our good news,” Bowie grinned down at her. Then he grabbed her ass and I nearly lost my dinner. This was all too much for me to take. First, I had to hear Dash going at it with two other women, and then I walked in on Edith with her new husband. I had to be in hell. There was no other way to describe what was happening at the moment.
And then something else struck me…
“Wait, why are you here?”
“Well, that’s something we wanted to talk about with you. See, Bowie is living with Rae and Duke right now. And obviously, we can’t all live together in that house. Which means?—”
“Oh God,” I breathed. “You’re living here.”
“Well, you have that nice, young man to stay with and things are going so well?—”
“He brought home two women tonight,” I practically shouted.
She cringed, looking up at Bowie. “Well, I suppose you could stay here. It’ll only be a few more weeks before construction is finished. I’m paying them enough to ensure that.”
This was a disaster. The worst kind of predicament to be in when everything was falling apart. Who did I stay with? My pseudo-mother, who was now married to a man half her age, or the man I was falling in love with who suddenly decided to bring women home and destroy the bed I used to share with him?
One thing was perfectly clear, I was going to have to start looking for another place—and fast.
I marchedmy little tushy back to Dash’s house, stepping over his couch that was still in the doorway, and plopped down in the chair I’d sat in the entire time he was upstairs entertaining his guests. I was traumatized, to say the least. This night had been an absolute disaster.
“Hey,” Lee said, walking into the room, eating a bowl of cereal. “Did you catch the show?”
“Which one?” I grumbled.
“There was more than one?”
I rolled my head toward her and sighed. “I walked in on Edith doing the nasty with a man half her age at the new house.”
“Wow, that must have been…interesting.”
I pointed at the goose egg on my head. “I walked into the doorframe, and then collapsed on the floor.”
“Points for creativity. I would have chosen a more destructive way to go.”
“I wasn’t trying to kill myself. I was trying to escape the horror that nearly made my eyes bleed. And anyway, why are you still here? I thought you cut things off with Brock?”
“Oh, I did. But his bed is comfortable. We have a strict no-touching policy. He breaks the rules every night, and after he gives me earth-shattering pleasure, I punish him until his back is filled with welts. It works for now,” she said with a shrug.
If only things were working out so well for me. “Well, I’m going to have to find a new place to stay. Dash very blatantly brought home two women and then proceeded to be…very loud as they all got off upstairs in the very room I stay in.”
“Kinky,” she said in a monotone voice.”
“And disgusting. I can never stay in that bed again.”
“You can sleep with Brock. Although, he has roving hands.”
“Thanks, but I think I’ll stick to somewhere no men are located.”
“You could always stay at Andrew’s house. You know he wouldn’t care.”
He wouldn’t. And it was beginning to look like the only place I could go where I wouldn’t run into people getting it on like horny teenagers.
“Maybe I will. I need something to wipe the horrible images from my head. And the sounds.”
“The old house will be fixed eventually. It’s not the end of the world.”
