“So…we move on, right? That’s step one?”
He ran his hand over his jaw like an Italian mafia boss. “Because you have pleased me, I will give you the great honor of being my instructor. You will come to me every morning at precisely seven-thirteen. We will drive for one hour until I am satisfied I can pass the road test.”
“Seven-thirteen,” I chuckled. “That’s—” I stopped myself from finishing that sentence when his satisfied look started to slip. “That’s…perfect! I’ll be here.”
“This is good,” he nodded. “You may go now.”
I jerked my thumb over my shoulder, unsure if he was actuallydismissing me. I caught Red chuckling behind his hand, laughing at my misery. “O-okay. Tomorrow morning.”
“Seven-thirteen. If you are late, I will be displeased.”
“Of course.”
I turned and walked away with my tail tucked between my legs. Fuck, who knew I would ever go to such lengths to make another man happy?
“Oh, and Dash,” Cotton called out. I turned to him, terrified of what he would say. “Good luck, goombah.”
A shiver ran down my spine as I turned and walked away, feeling like I was in the crosshairs of a sniper. Something told me this was going to be the toughest test of my life.
