Story: CeCe Sloan is Swooning
“You’d be surprised how many don’t lose their hair anymore. Some chemo treatments don’t cause that particular side effect.”
“That’s even better. I’d love to do their hair.”
“You’re a good guy.” CeCe smiled.
“Hey, CeCe! Pull down here,” Cory called from the back door of The Liquor Box.
“Good thing you put the rear seats down,” Ryan said.
CeCe grinned. “That’s what I love about this SUV. Plenty of room when you need it.”
“Have fun. I’ll see you when you get back.”
CeCe drove the short distance to Cory’s back door and opened the rear hatch. She pushed the boxes forward so Cory would have room for her drink supplies.
“I’ll be there in a little while to start mixing the mocktails,” Cory said, setting one of two boxes in the SUV.
“Okay. This is going to be so much fun.”
“Wait,” Cat said, wheeling a small dolly with a box on it towards them. “I have a box of books and magazines I thought the women would enjoy while they’re getting their treatments.”
“Oh, this is great,” CeCe said, looking in the box.
“I also have several complementary codes for audiobooks. Maybe we can think of a cute way to raffle them off,” Cat said.
“I’m sure we can come up with something.”
“I’m waiting on Jessica to come in then I’ll join you. I’ll be there before lunch.”
CeCe nodded. “Thank y’all for always pitching in to make this a special day,” CeCe said, hugging each of her sisters.
“Hey, is someone helping you unload all this stuff?” Cat asked.
“Yes, two of Alexis's friends I met at the party will be there as well as Amber, Heather, and Nora from the salon. There’s a maintenance man that has helped every year, too.”
“Okay then. It looks like you’re all set. We’ll see you at the hospital,” Cory said.
CeCe closed the hatch and headed to the hospital.
Once there her SUV was unloaded, the boxes whisked away to the treatment area of the oncology department, and Erin was waiting as CeCe made it to the space for all the festivities.
“Hi, CeCe,” Erin said with a bright smile.
“Well, hey. I didn’t expect for you to greet us,” CeCe replied.
“I never know how busy my day might become and I wanted to welcome you and your team and thank you once again.”
“Thanks, Erin. You know we love doing it. We get as much from the patients as they do from us, probably more. You know what I mean or you wouldn’t be running this hospital,” CeCe said.
“I see you recruited a few people from Lana’s party,” Erin said.
“Lana and Tonya were quick to volunteer their time as well as money and Lana brought a few friends, too. Alexis's friends have really helped out.”
“Aren’t they your friends, too?”
CeCe raised her brows and grinned. “I think so.”
Erin laughed. “I know exactly how you feel. When Desi and I got together I wasn’t sure if her friends would accept me. I don’t teach fitness or even work out regularly.”
