Story: CeCe Sloan is Swooning
“That’s right. You remember everyone’s names and their partners. Impressive,” Alexis said. “Does it bother you that they asked about doing their hair?”
CeCe glanced over at Alexis. “Not at all. You’d be surprised how many clients I’ve gained from parties and events. Don’t people ask doctors about their ailments when they see them in a social setting?”
Alexis nodded. “Yeah, I guess they do. I didn’t want anyone to take advantage of the situation.”
“Everyone was so nice. And several of the women wanted to help with the spa day event.”
“How can they help?” Alexis asked.
“With donations for one. They also want to be there to help with the food and the patients,” CeCe added.
“Thank you for going with me,” Alexis said.
“I had a good time being there with you, babe,” CeCe said, glancing at Alexis.
“And the rest of the weekend is ours,” Alexis said happily. She flattened her hand against CeCe’s thigh and began to slowly move it under CeCe’s dress.
CeCe chuckled. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Getting the best part of the weekend started.” Alexis grinned and winked at CeCe.
“Wait until we get home, honey. The last thing we want is to be in a car wreck.”
“You’re safe with me.”
CeCe studied Alexis's profile as she kept her eyes on the road. She was falling in love with Alexis Reed and hoped Alexis would keep her heart safe. CeCe could feel Alexis's heart opening up. Alexis might want to think it was closed off and icy, but not anymore. CeCe wasn’t sure Alexis realized it yet, but she would and CeCe planned on holding her tight. Alexis had made CeCe believe she belonged anywhere, especially when they were together.
But am I enough for Alexis? Sometimes the doubts still crept in.
* * *
It had been three weeks since the party at Michael and Lana’s, and Alexis and CeCe had not only spent that weekend together, they hadn’t spent even one night away from each other since. Sometimes they stayed at CeCe’s and other times they stayed at Alexis's.
CeCe was thrilled when Alexis mentioned how her house felt more like a home now that CeCe had some of her things there. In turn, Alexis had several outfits and other things she would need to get ready for work in the mornings at CeCe’s place. They had fallen into a routine that suited them both.
CeCe was staring out the window over her kitchen sink at her back yard. As she sipped her coffee she made a mental note to mow the lawn that weekend. Alexis had offered to pay her yard service to do it, but CeCe enjoyed taking care of her yard.
When she was growing up it was her responsibility to help her dad with the yard. She smiled, remembering the days she spent with him making their yard beautiful. He took such pride in having a manicured lawn and shrubs. CeCe wasn’t quite as meticulous as her father was, but she did like to sit on her back patio and enjoy the shade from her trees and the scents and beauty of the flowers she planted.
“Your yard looks beautiful, babe,” Alexis said, walking up behind her.
“Thanks, but it’s time to mow again.” CeCe turned around and poured Alexis a cup of coffee.
“Are you ready to treat the oncology patients and nurses to their spa day?” Alexis asked, taking a sip of coffee.
“Yep. I have to go by the salon and pick up all the supplies for me and Cory. She’s going to mix tropical mocktails for everyone.”
“Oh, that sounds like fun.”
“Hey, I know you have surgery this morning, but do you think we could have lunch together?”
“Do you get a break from the event?”
“Oh yeah, we take turns and having lunch with you would be a treat for me.” CeCe smiled at Alexis and gave her a hopeful look.
“I’ll come by when I’m finished. Lunch with you would be a treat for me, too.”
Alexis set her coffee cup down and eased CeCe against the sink. She reached down and began to run her hand up CeCe’s thigh and under her dress.
