Story: CeCe Sloan is Swooning
“I hope so. With you,” Alexis said, walking towards CeCe's car.
“I just happen to have an opening this evening,” CeCe quipped. “I can take you back to your car and we can grab dinner.”
“Could you take me to my car and I’ll follow you home?”
CeCe smiled. “And order dinner in?”
“What a great idea.” Alexis leaned in and kissed CeCe on the lips before walking to the passenger side of CeCe’s car.
“So you want to come home with me,” CeCe said as she backed out of her mother’s driveway.
“Is that all right?”
CeCe glanced over at Alexis and grinned. “I guess that means my mom didn’t scare you off.”
“Nope, but your mother is direct.”
“Uh oh, what did she do?” CeCe asked warily.
Alexis chuckled. “She asked why I was single.”
“Oh gosh, Lex. I’m sorry.”
“No, babe, it’s okay.”
CeCe smiled.
“You like it when I call you babe,” Alexis said.
“I do.”
“Your mom is easy to talk to.”
“More like demanding.” CeCe glanced over at Alexis. “You don’t talk about your family much. Is your mom hard to talk to?”
“I wouldn’t say that.”
CeCe pulled into her garage and looked over at Alexis. “You don’t have to talk about them if you don’t want to.”
“I don’t mind. Let’s order dinner and I’ll tell you about them.”
They went inside and decided to order a pizza.
“Would you like a glass of wine or a beer?” CeCe asked.
“No thanks. Water is fine.”
“Here you go.” CeCe handed Alexis a glass of water and led them to the living room couch.
Alexis looked around the room and smiled. “I like your house. It feels like a home.”
“You’ve mentioned that before.”
Alexis shrugged. “I don’t think I’ve lived anywhere that felt like a home. I’ve lived in houses.”
“Even growing up?”
“Oh yeah, I was going to tell you about my family.” Alexis took a drink of her water and set it on the table. She leaned back on the couch and pulled one leg under her. “My dad is a banker and my mom is a doctor. They are both retired. I have an older brother who is married with two daughters.”
