Story: CeCe Sloan is Swooning
“I was a stay-at-home mom when I talked Krista into buying this place,” Julia said.
“My wife is a fucking movie star, too. I was just a businesswoman,” Melanie said, joining the conversation.
CeCe looked at each of these remarkable women and realized what they were trying to tell her. “Is it written all over my face or something?”
“Not at all,” Lauren said. “The way you look at her tells me you want more than just a weekend at a romantic place with lovely people.” Lauren raised her arms and gestured to the others at the table. “I recognize the look, CeCe, because that’s the way I looked at Tara. I wanted more than just a fling.”
CeCe gazed over at Alexis and smiled. She wanted more than a fling, too, but it wasn’t entirely up to her, was it?
“Don’t worry, honey,” Melanie said, patting CeCe on the shoulder. “Alexis wants more than that, too.”
CeCe smiled.
“Those doctors and their spouses are going to love you. It’s Alexis who should worry. She’s got to convince the Sloan sisters she’s good enough for you.” Melanie grinned.
CeCe laughed. “She’s already working on them.”
“What am I working on?” Alexis asked, walking up to the table.
“Your dance moves,” CeCe said, grabbing her hand and spinning them onto the dance floor.
“What were y’all talking about?” Alexis asked as the music slowed and she could hold CeCe close. “You looked kind of serious.”
CeCe gazed into Alexis's eyes and sighed. “Lauren was telling me how she didn’t think she’d fit into Tara’s world when they first got together.”
“I can imagine. Tara is quite a force,” Alexis replied.
“Kind of like someone else I know,” CeCe said, amused.
Alexis gave her a confused look.
“You are quite a force as well, Dr. Reed,” CeCe said.
Alexis scoffed then tilted her head. “Are you concerned about the doctors I work with?”
CeCe shrugged.
“You have nothing to worry about, honey. You’ll see when you meet them.”
CeCe narrowed her gaze. “Am I going to meet them?”
“I guess. I don’t really socialize.” A smile grew on Alexis's face. “Lately I’ve been going to my new favorite place.”
“Oh? And where is that?” CeCe asked.
“It’s a beauty salon.”
CeCe chuckled. “A woman as gorgeous as you? Why would you be going to a salon so often?” CeCe asked, playing along.
Alexis laughed. “Do you realize I was ready to make hair and nail appointments every week just for a reason to come see you?”
“What? No you weren’t. You came by that afternoon when you were having a bad day. You didn’t have an appointment then.”
“Do you remember my pedicure?” Alexis asked.
CeCe nodded. She remembered yanking Alexis into the back room and kissing her like her life depended on it.
“After that,” Alexis said, dropping her head and staring into CeCe’s eyes, “I was looking for any reason to come by and see you.”
