“My friend is doing background checks on all three and hopefully we will have answers,” Dayton informs me.
“And how does Mallory fit in?” Snow asks.
“It’s so weird, but maybe Sal needs to do background checks on contestants,” Memphis says and we all nod.
“You think?” I laugh, “I mean, he let me in.” Memphis laughs with me at that.
“Can’t let the crazies in,” Alexa snorts because it was me last season. Everyone joins in. Feels good to laugh.
“Is there going to be another season?” Mason asks.
“Yes, and he’s going with the usual setting, just one person, like the first season,” Ever says.
“Who is the person?” I’m curious as to what poor soul is going to go through hell.
“Timber,” Ever says as Beau comes out of the office. I can see his face as Ever said her name and that solves the mystery of who he likes. There is quite an age gap between them, but age doesn’t mean anything. You love who you love.
My brother spins around on his heels and slams his office door.
“What crawled up his ass?” Memphis asks.
“You have no idea,” I tell him.
“He likes Timber,” Ever says and Memphis looks shocked.
“I found a scrunchie in his truck, he snatched it out of my hand and snapped at me when I asked who she was,” I tell them.
“She’s quite younger than him,” Memphis points out.
“She is, but I’m younger than you, does that matter?” Ever points at him.
“No, it doesn’t. I would love you even if you were the older one,” he kisses Ever’s cheek. “Why didn’t he tell me?”
“He was keeping it a secret. I think he didn’t say anything because of her father and also for the fact of what you just pointed out— her age.” She’s not even legal drinking age yet.
“Timber is a sweet girl,” Ariel says as Brick pulls up another table, we’re already taking up three.
“I agree,” Ever nods, “I hope she finds her happily ever after.”
I agree with her, everyone deserves it.
“Even you,” Ever says.
I hope Linc is doing okay. I hope someday we can have that talk.
“How is he?” I really want to make sure he’s okay.
“He’s not here. He left town,” Memphis says.
“Beau told me,” I tell him. “Is he coming back or deciding to stay away forever?”
“He’s coming back. He had some things to attend to,” Jimmy says.
“Okay,” I say as Mercy brings another round of beers. Beau said the same thing, I just needed to hearit from someone else, not that I don’t trust my brother. I start to get up to help Mercy, but she waves me off.
I should be helping her, but I need this too. I need to know I’m worthy of love.
“You are,” Snow whispers to me. I need to stop thinking out loud, horrible habit.
