Page 41 of Skye's Fall
“On you marks, get set,” Carlton yells
As he yells go, he shoots a flare in the air. I laugh as he fires it because he didn’t realize the kick it would have. He’s probably never fired a weapon.
The guys take off, everyone cheering. They both get to the first buoy and dive in. They find the rings okay but have a hard time getting back in.
The mean girls in the corner are laughing and pointing.
“Leave it alone,” Alexa says from my side. Am I that transparent?
“I’m thinking they need a dose of this. Do you think you can do this?” I ask Snow, Alexa, and Mckenna, and Mallory, since she’s standing there.
“I probably would be just as bad,” Snow admits.
“Doesn’t matter as long as you do better than them,” I grin.
“What are you going to do?” Mallory questions me as I start to walk away.
“Get ready girls,” I sing as I approach Sal.
“Skye,” he greets me.
“Sal, I think the girls should do this as well,” I tell him pointedly.
“I think that’s a great idea,” he agrees.
“Wait, you do?”
“Yes, a guy is leaving, but we could do it as an elimination for the girls as well. Won’t happen today, maybe tomorrow night, one couple goes home,” he says.
“Okay,” I start to walk away.
“Do you still want to leave?”
“Yes, I think it’s for the best,” I reply.
“Then I have something special for tomorrow night,” he grins and walks off. That guy is so weird sometimes.
“Up next is Jimmy and Stan,” Carlton calls out.
“You missed Linc and Bobby. Linc won,” Snow whispers to me. I smile at her, grateful so in case he asked how he did, I can say he did great.
Soon, it’s Linc and Mason, Linc winning the final race.
“I’m sorry, Peter, you are leaving the competition,” Carlton says. He actually looks relieved as he runs to his cabin. I don’t blame him.
“Guys, take a break and afterward, we will pick new couples,” Sal says. Will Linc pick me?
“Don’t worry, he will,” Snow and I take a plate that Shane hands us.
“You’re doing great, Skye,” he winks as I find a table.
The guys don’t sit with us. I think they are lost in thought. I know some of them want to pick someone new, not that I blame them. It doesn’t really matter to me, I’ll be leaving tomorrow.
It’s comfortable silence until Zack opens his mouth.
“Such a sweet pussy,” he says to his table.
“You didn’t sleep with her,” Bobby says. Glad someone knows the truth, I think.
