“You were?” I’m baffled because Memphis is her man and I did something to hurt him.
“Yes, idiot. We all were. We understand why you kept things to yourself,” she says as we sit at a table in the corner, away from prying eyes.
“I needed a few days,” I tell her.
“I know, we all get that. Memphis isn’t mad, just concerned. He feels like he missed some things and is upset he didn’t notice.”
“I wasn’t an easy person to get along with. I don’t know why, but every time he was around I would start fights over the littlest shit.”
“Pregnancy hormones?”
“No, I just think I was a bitch.” Truth.
“You were,” she chuckles.
“Thanks,” I snort.
“Time to own up,” she tells me and I nod.
“Ready to talk?”
“About the baby? No, not yet.”
“When you are,” she pats my hand.
“I appreciate that. And I appreciate you being nice to me,” I say softly.
“I forgave you, maybe it’s time to forgive yourself.” That’s harder than she thinks.
“What if I can’t?”
“What you did on your wedding day was bad. But you both were saying goodbye in a way. You wouldn’t do that if you didn’t care about him. We all see it. Even when you both were trying to hate each other, we all saw the looks,” she points out.
“I married Memphis, though.”
“Shit move, but you can make it right. You both are meant to be together,” Mercy sits a couple beers down.
“Even you?” I ask Mercy.
Mercy shrugs, “I’ve known since you were little that you and Linc were going to be together.”
I take all this in as the others join us. I see Ever shake her head at them, letting them know to leave it alone.
“How’s the show going?” I ask.
“Sal lost the ratings so he ended the show, crowning Jimmy and Mckenna the winners just to piss off Kelsey and Kara,” Snow says.
“How did they take that? I’m sure Kelsey was more pissed than Kara, though.”
“Probably second highest rated episode of the season. She threw a tantrum, knocked over cameras. She’s a real piece of work,” Mason says.
Jimmy and Mckenna join us, and I congratulate them. I’m honestly happy for them. Alexa, Dayton, and Snow follow them in.
“I’m still trying to figure out how Lily and Kelsey know each other, and how Mallory fits in,” I tell them.
“We all are. How did Lily know about your secret?” Mckenna asks.
“No idea. I didn’t tell anyone. And why did they both think I took Linc from them? It’s just weird.”
