Page 27 of Skye's Fall
“Nine?”
“Dayton and Mckenna are the winners of this round. Lily and Dean, pack your stuff.”
“THIS WAS RIGGED! SHE RIGGED IT!” Lily screams and points at me.
“It was not rigged,” Sal tells her pointedly.
“You’re a bitch, Skye. You’ll always be a bitch. I hope you follow your baby to hell.”
Oh fuck. I’m fucked. My world is going to come crashing down today.
“What does she mean?” Linc asks me.
“She’s delusional,” I try to laugh it off as Lily tries to slap me as she walks by. Linc grabs her wrist and hands her off to security. I guess that means Kelsey is the new queen bitch now.
“Wow,” Mallory whistles.
“What is her problem?” Jimmy agrees.
“What baby?” Linc asks again.
“No baby,” I lie. “No idea what she is talking about.”
How did she find out? No one should know. I’ve never told anyone this secret, so how does she know?
Chapter Eighteen
Lincoln
What baby? Why did Lily say that as she left? Skye is keeping something from me, from Memphis. Or is she delusional like Skye said? She could be. I’ll let that go for now.
“Get some sleep, guys. Another fun-filled activity awaits you in the morning,” Sal says as we all head down to the cabins.
Skye looks nervous. I know I am. I haven’t been with anyone else since her, not that girls didn’t try. I was rich then, and that’s what they wanted. I was another leg up— they shopped while I raked in the money with cows and horses. Until my parents fucked me over. I need this show, I need to win it, so I can take my mother to court. I will make her pay.
I close the door to the cabin quietly and turn to watch Skye. She pulls out some pajamas and heads to the little bathroom, but I have another idea.
“Stop,” I halt her.
“Huh?”
“Let’s go for a swim,” I say.
“What?”
“Let’s go skinny dipping.”
“Are you crazy?”
“Live a little, Skye,” I goad her.
She mulls it over in her mind for a bit and then nods shyly.
I grab her hand and we head out down the trail to the far side of the pond, away from the others.
I strip down to my birthday suit, smirking at her when her eyes roam over me. I’m not Memphis, but I keep fit.
She strips down and I take in a breath. She’s as beautiful as I remember. I just grin and grab her hand, jumping into the cold water.
