Page 43 of Skye's Fall
“I have a headache. Mind if I take a nap?”
“Oh, no, I don’t mind,” her lip quivers. Great, she’s a crier.
I turn and face the wall, and try to will myself to sleep and not dream of the girl I’m in love with.
Sleep didn’t come easy and a couple hours later, Victoria is waking me up so we can go answer questions about our partner.
Don’t know anything about her, don’t care.
“You just have to know that my favorite color is pink,” she says as we walk to the main tree.
Of course it’s pink. It should be black like her heart and mine.
“I’m a bank teller and I live in Colorado,” she tells me.
I just nod. Like I said before, I don’t care.
“Alright, folks, and people watching at home, time to see if you know your partner,” Carlton begins to tell the cameras about what’s going to happen.
“If you get a question wrong, your partner gets a pie in the face,” Carlton says.
I might just answer wrong on purpose. Could be fun. Just thinking about a pie in Victoria’s face makes me laugh.
“Mason, what is Skye’s favorite color?” I glare at him as he mulls it over. I should have given her a chance to tell me she didn’t do anything with Zack. I’m acting like I’m in high school, listening to rumors.
“Purple,” he answers.
“Correct.”
“Skye, what does Mason do for a living?”
“He’s a professional rodeo cowboy.” That was too easy.
“Correct.”
“Victoria, where is Lincoln from?”
“Here, Hickory,” she says.
“Correct.”
“Lincoln, what does Victoria do for a living?”
“Model?”
I hear her squeal as a pie is launched at her and then her claws come out.
“I just told you what I did,” she yells at me.
I just laugh as she wipes the whip cream off her face. Serves her right.
Most of the others do well and we’re done sooner rather than later.
“Winners are Dayton and Snow,” Carlton says. “You guys get a date in the city.”
I see Snow smile at Dayton. They deserve it.
“Everyone else, prepare for tomorrow,” Sal says as the cameras turn off.
