Page 63 of Saving Soul
“So! Go another round!”
“I’m in the Hamptons! And he’s in LA.”
“Then get creative. Phones have cameras these days.”
I covered my burning face. “I’m not having phone sex. I wouldn’t even know how.”
“Argh, come on, Cass. Live a little. You deserve to.”
She was never going to let this go until I gave her something. “Fine, I’ll think about it.”
“Doo iiit.”
I held my finger over theEnd Callbutton. “Good night, Tash!”
She blew me a kiss. “Night, Cass! I love you! So do Bryce and Tristian…and the bump!”
“I love and miss you all, too.”
After closing my laptop, I picked up my novel and shuffled further under the covers. The underlined passage on page 234 described a scene so hot it had my core pulsing. With only one way to relieve the tension, my hand slid down my silk gown, like the hero tracing the curves of the heroine, and settled over my mound. As the memory of my night with Adam flashed through my mind, I gave in to desire and buried my face into my pillow as I cried out.
Once my breathing slowed, I scoured the pages for more of Adam’s notations, curious to know what turned him on. A man with that much experience would surely have particular tastes. Tastes a girl like me could never satisfy…unless I did my research.
A few chapters later, my eyes locked onto Adam’s familiar scrawl, and a tired giggle floated from my lips. The scene was just as steamy but entirely focused on the hero’s arousal. I couldn’t help but pick up my phone and send a message of my own.

Almost instantly, three little dots appeared, then disappeared, then appeared, then disappeared, until they were completely gone. Perhaps I wasn’t allowed to play his game. Although my heart dipped, it was a good sign. The sooner he thought he had me, the sooner he’d let me go.
Liam’s company made it easier to pass the time. I hadn’t heard from Adam since his text, and now I was anxious for his return. It was Friday afternoon, and he was due to arrive earlier than usual, with Grayson and Josie, to be present for Liam’s doctor appointment.
“Hey, Gramps,” Grayson greeted as he walked in with Harrison nestled in his arms. “Hey, Cassidy.”
Josie scurried in moments later, carrying his bottle. “Did we miss the doc? Harrison had a poonami on the drive here, so we had to pull over and sort it out. Luci’s farts smell like roses in comparison.”
“How is that beautiful beast of yours?” Liam asked as I adjusted his pillows so he could sit up straighter.
My eyes widened. “Beast?”
“Our Irish Wolfhound.” Grayson grinned. “You’ll meet him next week.”
Liam beamed. “You’re bringing him for Thanksgiving?”
“We sure are.”
“Wonderful. I’ll ask Max to save some big juicy bones for him.”
Josie laughed. “You spoil him as much as you do Harrison.”
“Speaking of spoiled children…” Liam panned his gaze to the door. “Where is your brother? I thought you were picking him up from the airport.”
Josie’s eyes flickered my way. “Something came up last night, so he had to cancel his overnight flight.”
“Something came up alright.” Grayson’s snicker stopped short under his wife’s glare.
My mouth grew dry. “Will he be here for the wedding tomorrow?”
Josie took Harrison from Grayson’s arms and moved to the couch. “It’s a six-hour trip, so if he rescheduled to the first flight out this morning, he should be here within a few hours.”
