“I can help with that.” I reached for the empty bottle in his hand. “Why don’t you take Harry to see Liam in the drawing room while I heat it up?”
“Really?” Grayson’s shoulders eased. “Thanks, Cassidy. The formula’s sitting by the coffee machine.”
Adam grabbed the tin and handed it over before turning to his brother. “Hey, don’t forget whose birthday it is today.”
Grayson’s eyebrows arched. “Oh, fuck, of course. I’m so tired I can barely remember my name let alone what day it is.”
Once Grayson left the kitchen, I turned to find Adam drawing in the aroma of the new coffee beans before placing them into the machine.
“Wow…you really like that coffee.”
“It’s better than sex,” he said before peeking my way. “Most sex.”
With the roll of my eyes, I diverted my focus to making a bottle of formula for Harrison. Adam and I moved around the kitchen like a synchronized dance routine, close enough for our energies to interweave, but far enough to avoid touching.
Adam studied me as I dripped warm formula onto my wrist. “You look like you’ve done that before.”
I quickly wiped it off. “I…um…used to do a lot of babysitting.”It wasn’t a lie.
“I think once was enough for me.”
“Harrison is hardly a bother.”
Adam snorted. “Have you seen the bags under my brother’s eyes?”
“I’m sure they’re worth it,” I said on my way out the door. In fact, I knew they were.
“Not convinced,” Adam called out.
With a shake of my head, I returned to the drawing room to find Harrison in Liam’s arms, with Grayson crouched beside him. “Are you on feeding duty, Liam?” I asked, devouring the beautiful moment.
Liam’s face brightened. “May I?” he asked his grandson.
“Of course.” Grayson smiled as I passed over the bottle.
Liam’s eyes glistened, but his aura exuded happiness. “Betty would have loved this.”
“Oh, I’m certain of that.” I stepped back to give the three generations some space. At the whisper of my name, I turned to find Adam standing in the doorway, wearing a heavy winter coat and a devilish grin, while holding two steaming cups of coffee.
I wasn’t sure if it was the coffee or his eyes beckoning me, but I surrendered to the pull and stepped into the grand hall.
Adam tipped his head to the front door. “Take a walk with me.”
“I…don’t have my jacket.”
“I grabbed you one of mine.”
I spied a coat draped over the bannister, and my heartbeat accelerated. “Oh, okay,” I said, struggling to lift the heavy material that was tailored for broad shoulders and not my tiny frame.
“Let me.” Adam placed the coffees on the hallway table and held up the jacket while I slipped my arms inside.
“Thanks,” I rasped when his finger grazed my neck. His touch drew my face toward the collar, and I breathed in. Adam’s glorious scent encased my body, and when he spun me around to zip me up, my head grew light.
“You okay?” His body was entirely too close to regain my senses.
I dipped my head as I fell back a step. “I clearly can’t function without caffeine.”
“Well, I can help with that.” Adam picked up both coffees and handed one over. “Shall we?”
