Page 60 of Rejected and Pregnant by the Alpha (Forbidden Alpha Kings #52)

Hannah

Gripping the rope above me as the trailer sways slightly, I take in the ten wolves and five vampires crowded into the space, ready to spring forth as soon as the doors open.

Julian stands beside me, his body swaying with the moving vehicle and his green eyes focused on the door.

Everyone is tense with anticipation, ready to take out the hunters who have been terrorizing this area for decades.

They were smart, keeping a low profile that even Aileen and I did not know about.

Now that we do, they will be gone come morning light.

The tractor-trailer comes to a slow stop, the engine idling as we hear the sounds of a gate rolling open outside.

It seems we have arrived. We wait with bated breath, wondering if someone will be dumb enough to check the “merchandise” in the back.

Luckily for us, the trailer moves forward, and we all breathe a small sigh of relief.

We are in. Now, all we need to do is wait for the back door to open, and all hell will break loose.

“Just a little longer,” Julian says quietly, everyone looking to him with bloodthirsty grins. For centuries, hunters have captured, tortured, and killed many of our kind. Now it is our turn for revenge.

The trailer drives slower now that Sabrina has been allowed to enter the hunters’ headquarters.

It seems the lie of Steven and his men being drunk in the back while watching over the merchandise was taken seriously, and I wonder just what type of leader Steven must have been for his people to believe anything Sabrina said.

It isn’t long before we feel the trailer come to a stop and the engine shut off. It seems we have reached our destination, and now, all we need is for the distraction team to do their job.

“How many wolves did you say you captured?” a familiar voice calls from the end of the trailer where the door is. It’s Marcus.

“Eight” comes Sabrina’s stammered reply. “Three females and five males,” she adds quickly.

I suppress the chuckle threatening to spill from my lips and look around at the fifteen wolves and five vampires in our mix. The hunters will only expect eight wolves inside, tied up with silver chains and drugged with wolfbane to be easily handled. They won’t expect us at all.

“All rogues that no one will look for?” Marcus asks, his gruff voice filled with disdain.

“Y-yes, sir,” Sabrina answers right away.

“Good. I have a client looking for a new she-wolf to use as a toy. If one of the three females looks the best, then we can sell her.”

The locks to the trailer rattle, and I look to Miella, who grins in the darkness, her fangs peeking from under her lips.

Mavric, Aidan, I call out to my theta and beta in our link. Where the hell is our distraction? I ask, shifting from foot to foot while preparing for a fight. Should be arriving right about… Mavric answers, excitement in his voice. Now!

The blaring of an alarm quickly follows his words, and I grin. I can hear curses from outside the door and take a deep breath.

“What the fuck is going on?” Marcus shouts, banging his fist against the trailer door.

“We are under attack, sir!” someone replies quickly.

“By who?” he demands.

Before anyone can answer, Miella kicks open the door, and a group of ten hunters turns to stare back at us in surprise.

“By us,” she says before her body disappears as she zips out of the trailer.

Chuckling, our unit files out of the trailer, the vampires quickly dispatching those with guns while the wolves work toward the unarmed ones. Our first objective is to secure the delivery area and guard it from the hunters inside while the rest of us take them out one by one.

At the same time, we push toward the cells where the vampires and werewolves are being held.

Our mission is to release them and bring them to the trailer, ensuring their safe transport to Haven Trail.

From there, the vampires will be given blood, and everyone will receive medical treatment until we can find a safe vampire coven or wolf pack they can call home.

Streams of curses and shouts from the hunters being taken down fill the delivery area, while shouts and gunfire from outside reach our ears. It seems the distraction team is having fun.

Racing toward the nearest hunter, I turn my fingers into claws and swipe them across his face. The hunter screams, dropping the knife he was about to stab toward me to clutch the wounds I just caused.

Before he can retaliate, I have already made my way behind him and quickly snapped his neck. The sickening snap is satisfying to my ears. By the time the chaos settles and the rest of the hunters have been taken down, only two remain alive—Marcus and a black male with crisp braids.

“You bitch!” Marcus snaps, his glare fixed on Sabrina. “You fucking betrayed us!”

“No,” Sabrina states, stepping closer to her ex-brother-in-law. “I never betrayed you guys because I never wanted to be a hunter,” Sabrina adds, glaring back at Marcus.

I grin at her bravery as she stands up to her abuser before I turn my attention to the silent man who watches everything around us.

“Who is he?” I ask Sabrina, who looks at the man as well.

“Calvin Kaine, head of security,” she answers, Calvin’s gaze snapping toward her.

“So, you do know my name,” Calvin says, his deep voice so low that it surprises me.

“I know everyone’s name here. It was my job to complete payroll,” Sabrina states before turning back to me. “Do you want me to lead you to the cells?” she asks.

I nod, motioning for two vampires and two of my wolves to hang back and guard the tractor-trailer. Julian and the others are already waiting by the entrance to the building, each of them wearing a satisfied smile.

“Don’t get too smug just yet,” I say as I reach Julian’s side. “We still have an hour and forty minutes to take down the rest of the hunters and rescue the wolves and vampires in the cells,” I say, motioning for Miella to take the lead.

The doors are carefully opened, and after confirming with Sabrina that she is ready, we rush into the building.
