Looking at my wolves sitting around the guest house dining table, I sigh as I listen to their reports.

It seems like Hannah has done a good job setting up Haven Trail, from planning where her packmates would live to where the training facilities would be.

Not only that, but her company has hired many of her packmates to work in the building or has planned for them to work under Theta Aidan in his construction company, expanding his business and providing livable wages to those under his command.

I knew from the reports sent yearly to the royal pack that the alpha of Haven Trail was a fair and just leader, but I never expected to find so many positive reports with zero complaints for a newly formed pack.

This meant that our work here was done, and we had no other reason to linger in Haven Trail.

My heart clenches at this thought. Finding Hannah again and working hard to regain her trust has been one hell of a rollercoaster ride.

All I want to do is rush out of the guest house dining hall and pull her into my arms. Hannah is my reason for staying here in her pack, but I also need to complete my duties and evaluate the many packs under my command.

“So, are we in agreement that we will have to move on to the next pack within seven days?” Mikos asks, a sullen look crossing everyone’s face. The royal tour, unfortunately, must go on, even if many of us are enjoying the relaxing environment that Haven Trail provides.

“Sadly, yes,” Ted, a warrior sitting halfway down the table, says with a sigh. Everyone else lets out murmurs of agreement, and I sigh once more.

“Then I will go inform Hannah about the plans,” I say.

Suddenly, my phone begins to ring, the ringtone making everyone perk up in their seats, and a look of concern flashes in Fabian’s eyes.

This ringtone is only used for emergencies.

Something important must have happened. Slipping the phone from my pocket, I place it on the table before pressing the answer icon.

“King Julian here,” I state, and the dining hall becomes deathly silent.

“Your Majesty, it’s Haden Cain.” Haden’s voice sounds from the phone.

My frown deepens as I look at Fabian, who also has a grim expression on his face. Haden was one of the spies sent to Timmins to track down the Hunters Association a few days ago. It seems he has something for us.

“Everyone is here, so just spill it,” I tell Haden, earning a dark chuckle from him.

“My men and I found where the Hunters Association in Timmins is and were wondering if you wanted to postpone your visit to the next pack to take them down,” Haden says.

The room goes quiet, and I feel the rising bloodlust from my men. Here is an opportunity to take down one of the Hunters Association branches so close to that royal pack, yet we still have one to deal with here in Ottawa.

“Do you think you can wait two weeks before we take it down?” I ask Haden, looking around the room. “We still have to talk with Hannah about taking down the one here in Ottawa before we can move on to the one in Timmins,” I continue.

“Wait.” Haden’s voice comes through the phone speaker, sounding confused. “Hannah, as in Hannah Cross, the she-wolf who was banished from the royal pack five years ago?” he asks, his voice an octave higher than normal with shock.

“Yes. Hannah Cross, also known as Alpha Cross of Haven Trail, and the soulmate I have been looking for,” I confirm, letting out a sigh.

Haden lets out a low whistle, and the line goes quiet for a moment. “You fucked up, didn’t you, King Julian?” he asks, making Fabian burst out laughing while I send him a low warning growl.

“He did, Haden, and he regrets not listening to me,” Fabian calls out while I glare at my beta.

The rest of the wolves in the room remain quiet, and I am thankful for that. As much as I want to explain the details to Haden and clear the air about the rumors surrounding Hannah, it will have to wait until after we deal with the hunters in Timmins and Ottawa.

“So,” I say, capturing everyone’s attention.

“Can we push the attack back by two weeks on the hunters in Timmins?” I ask once more.

“Yes, we can,” Haden confirms, his voice returning to normal.

“Good. Keep us updated on what is going on. And, Haden, be careful,” I say.

Haden lets out a noise of understanding before the phone call ends, and I take a deep breath.

“Did Theta Aidan talk about plans to take down the hunters in Ottawa?” I ask, turning to look at Mikos, who has spent most of the time shadowing Hannah’s pack’s theta.

“He has. From what I understand, Aidan plans to talk to Hannah about it after she comes back from Trail Corporation tonight,” Mikos answers.

I run a hand through my hair and nod, deciding that today my wolves can just relax and do whatever they want as long as they behave themselves.

From what I learned earlier, many had become friends with the wolves in Haven Trail and were planning to head into the city for some sightseeing.

After telling them to have fun, I leave the guest house dining hall and head to my room, with Fabian hot on my heels.

“So, how is Hannah?” he asks as we enter my room, and I flop onto the bed.

“Better. I’m pissed you didn’t tell me she was in heat, but it worked out in the end for us,” I answer, catching the confused look in my friend’s eyes.

“I ended up going through my rut again, and Hannah and I helped each other through it. I think she’s accepting the fact that I’m willing to change, and I can feel the mate bond shift in a positive light,” I explain, watching as Fabian’s eyes widen in surprise.

“Is that why you vanished for the last few days?” he asks, taking a seat on the bed.

“It is,” I confirm.

“Do you think Hannah will return to the royal pack then?” he questions, and I pause.

Do I think Hannah would return to the royal pack after putting five years of hard work into Haven Trail? No. She would want to continue to grow this pack to its full potential.

“I’m not sure. She and I will have to talk about what we’re going to do,” I sigh, closing my eyes.

“Well, I wish you luck, my friend,” Fabian mutters, making me chuckle.

It’s not luck that I need; it’s the consistency to change and be a better wolf, a better man, for Hannah and Saben that I need right now.
