Hannah

Looking at the three large storage containers placed outside the mansion, filled with priceless antiques and books from the library I found within, I grin as I walk past them and into the building.

Construction and restoration are almost complete, just in time too, as my pup will be here in three weeks.

“There is our alpha!” a voice calls, the Indian accent thick, making my grin grow.

“Hi, Jiya,” I say, walking into the open arms of Jiya Singh, my first packmate and the she-wolf who has stood beside me while I went through my pregnancy, university classes, and the struggle of building a pack.

Now, with my first year of classes almost done, I have only three months left before I can focus entirely on building my pack from the ground up while also starting the business that I hope will lay the foundation for Haven Trail’s future.

“Hey, share the love!” another voice calls out with a mock pout, making me laugh.

I pull away from Jiya and turn to hug Aileen, the feisty vampire, who gives me a grin with her fangs poking out from under her upper lip.

“How are you feeling, hon?” Aileen asks as soon as she releases me, her sharp gaze scanning my body.

“Like a balloon ready to pop,” I groan, moving to the side so a worker can carry a few garbage bags out of the building.

“I can’t wait to give birth to my pup,” I add, running a hand through my hair as I look around the front foyer of the mansion.

After signing the necessary paperwork declaring the house and surrounding property mine, Serina insisted that I have the building inspected, citing that we did not know what work needed to be done to make the mansion into a functioning pack house.

Thankfully, Aileen knew a rogue werewolf looking for work, and with her help, I had Aidan Storm out here with a team.

When I learned it would cost around a million dollars to update everything from the plumbing to the electrical systems, I felt defeated, as if creating a pack was a money-draining endeavor.

Mold had been found in the roof after years of neglect.

Thankfully, Aidan made a deal with me. He would reduce the price to eight hundred thousand, but in return, he and his crew wanted to join my pack along with their families.

This shocked me, and I was hesitant to accept the offer, but Aidan explained his past.

His mate had been murdered by his last alpha, forcing him and his daughter to flee and turn rogue.

He came to Ottawa when no pack had formed here yet and decided that living in the city as a rogue was a safer option for himself and his daughter.

He started his business from scratch, watching it grow into what it is today over the next fifteen years.

What was even more surprising was learning that his daughter—Claira Storm—was a classmate of mine.

She, too, wanted to build a business in data security, so I agreed, telling Aidan that as soon as the pack house was ready, I would perform the ceremony to create and solidify the pack’s existence, as well as bring forth the magic that protected and defined a pack’s borders.

After that, construction and restoration began on the mansion, and I went looking for Claira at school, quickly becoming friends with the outgoing she-wolf.

She knew right away that I was pregnant when we first talked, telling me that her mother was a beta with an extremely talented tracking ability that Claira had inherited.

This meant she could scent the pup growing inside me.

The last six months I spent with Claira, her father, and his team of competent rogues—all running from their horrible pasts—were the breath of fresh air I needed.

Claira and I would train at the university gym when we weren’t studying or sparring just outside the mansion while her father and his crew worked.

They became the family I didn’t know I needed, surprising me with a gift on Christmas for both me and the unborn pup inside me.

Hell, even my teachers were kind to me after I informed them that I was pregnant by my fifth month, as my baby bump was no longer able to be hidden.

We agreed that I could attend classes with my pup after a week of resting, as long as I sat in the back of the class so I could exit when the pup was fussy.

Claira was there, offering to help me if I needed it, and I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the great friend I had made.

I was even considering turning her into my beta, as Jiya had declined, stating she wanted to be in charge of the omegas in her old age.

“There you are, Alpha Hannah.” Turning to the sound of a deep male voice, I find Aidan standing in the doorway with a grin on his lips.

“I have some good news for you,” he says, walking toward me.

“We can move in next week?” I ask, earning a chuckle from the fifty-year-old wolf.

“Yes, we will have the rooms furnished by next Friday, meaning you can move in then. Just in time, too, since there will be a full moon Saturday. We can finally form the pack,” Aidan answers, clasping my shoulder.

“You did good, kid. Not many eighteen-year-olds can do what you have done and build a pack from the ground up,” he adds, tears forming in my eyes.

“Thanks, Aidan,” I mumble, my voice filled with emotion. He smiles at me, telling me he is going to get his men to start bringing in the furniture from the storage containers before rushing off.

“So next Saturday we will be a pack?” Jiya asks, coming to stand beside me and wrapping her arms around my shoulders.

“Next Saturday we are going to be a pack,” I confirm, taking a deep breath. Eight months ago, I was all alone with only Fabian and his family on my side. Now, I am going to be an alpha and a mother. I am not alone anymore.
