Page 155 of Reckoning
I ease the door open, keeping the weapon in my grasp.
“I’d say it went very well.” I state.
She gasps, covering her mouth, stepping back but those stupid heels she’s in are so high she practically falls over.
I reach out, quickly grabbing her wrist and yank her to me, ramming the gun into her pearl wrapped throat.
Of course her security respond, a dozen or so rifles point at me, but we all know they won’t pull the trigger.
“Open the gates.” I bark.
“No,” The bitch cries like she’s still in charge.
I tighten my grip, feeling that fine silk dress she’s got on ripping in my hands.
Someone rushes over and starts arguing with the gatehouse.
“You really think they’ll let you walk out of here?” She sneers. And I’ll admit I’m surprised she still has the gall.
“Oh, I don’t think they’ll have much of a choice.” I grin as those black gates roll aside and a dozen or so of my men ride right in.
She snarls, she fights, I backhand her with the gun and that seems to knock some sense into her.
I know she’s going to be a fucking nightmare to transport but, as that realisation hits me, I lay eyes on the fancy Roller she has, gleaming on the driveway.
I pick her up, toss her into the boot and slam it shut.
I’d much prefer to be on my bike right now but the fuckers destroyed it when they took Reid out.
“How is he?” I ask.
Collins pauses, keeping his gun trained on the perimeter but he meets my eyes as he says, “He’ll be fine. Medics are with him now,”
I grunt. We padded him out, made him wear enough protection gear that it should have taken most of the impact. His body had to resemble mine from a quick glance so the extra padding helped on both counts.
I stalk to the front of the car, get in and turn it on. It’s a thing of beauty, I can’t deny that, but it’s not to my taste. I’d rather be in a beat up old banger than something as fragile as this feels.
“Let’s go.” I shout out.
This standoff has lasted long enough. We’ve probably got minutes left before the cops arrive and everything goes to shit.
I hit the gas, screech out of the drive, and slam the car to the right. I know that bitch will feel every turn, every pause, every move I make and I intend to make her suffer.

Blue lights trail behind us.
It makes me laugh as I glance in my rear view mirror. The bikes create a blockage keeping them back but we’re also creating a scene.
When we get to the Governor’s House, it feels like everyone seems to breathe a sigh of relief.
I’d normally take her home, take her to the basement and make her pay for the months of torture and bullshit she’s put Sofia through. But I’m not a fucking idiot.
If I do that, it might backfire on Sofia.
No, this is the smart move. The logical move.
The Roller comes to a stop right out front.
