“Okay,” she says, “I believe you.”
A little over thirty minutes later, my hair is styled in waves around my shoulders, my eyes are looking incredibly sultry and I’m wearing a floor-length red dress that hugs my curves and has a slit up the front that reaches mid-thigh.
I hook heels on my feet and do a pirouette for Bea.
“You look incredible, Moll.”
I open my bedroom door and the sound of loud alpha voices permeates up the staircase. I glance at Bea, who groans, and levers herself off the bed and to the hallway.
“Are those brothers of yours causing trouble?” she asks.
“Most probably.”
As we descend the staircase together, the voices hush and we find four alphas waiting at the bottom, most of the eyes fixed on me.
There’s Axel and Angel, my brothers, plus Ford and Colten.
“Hi,” I say to Colten, ignoring the stern stares of the other three alphas. “Ready to go?”
“If you are,” he replies with a grin.
“Molly, a word please,” Axel says, taking me by the elbow and leading me inside the dining room before I can tell him I don’t have time for a chat. Bea and Angel follow him in and Angel shuts the door.
“What’s up?” I ask in an overly bright tone.
“You can’t go out dressed like that,” Axel says, crossing his arms over his chest in his I-mean-business pose, a crumpled note visible in his closed fist.
“Why?” I ask innocently. “Do I have a stain on my dress?”
“No,” Bea says, “you look stunning.”
“She looks …” Axel starts, but the look his omega throws him has him trailing off.
“Your boss looks like he wants to rip that dress right off you,” Angel says.
“He does.” Bea chuckles but her two alphas look ready to commit murder.
“That doesn’t mean I’m going to let him. This is my favorite dress, and,” I add quickly, “I’m not interested in him.”
“But if he’s interested in you, you need to be careful out there, Molly. It could be dangerous.”
“It won’t be,” they both go to argue and I quickly add, “and even if it were, Ford will be there to protect me.”
I peek at Bea, imploring with my eyes for her not to add her suspicions that Ford would also like to rip my dress off.
“I don’t like it,” Axel grumbles.
“I know,” I say, kissing his cheek and then Angel’s before walking out the door. I can hear more grumbling behind me followed by Bea’s pacifying tones and I thank the lord for my sister-in-law.
“Everything okay?” Colten asks with a hint of amusement in his eyes.
“Just fine,” I tell him.
He offers me his arm, but the way Ford looks like he may pop a blood vessel on his forehead, I opt for walking myself out the door and to his car parked out the front.
It’s not a SUV or a flashy sports car. It’s a powder-blue Cadillac, the setting sun glinting off its immaculate paint work.
“Oh my gosh,” I say as I hear even Ford grunt with approval, “she’s beautiful.”
