Axel

“ …those piercings look like they would cause great pleasure to whomever you used them with.”

Did she just say those words to me? And, wait. Miller was looking at my cock? Oh my god. He totally looked at my cock.

“Um. Thank you. I think. You can go ahead and delete the picture now. Unless you’d like to keep it, and I’d be okay with that too, Tails.” I hear a masculine groan in the background and realize I must still be on speaker, and Miller heard my offer.

I was lying here in bed, unable to fall back asleep after my night shift, when my mind began to wander like it often does. More like squirrel, but at this point it’s all the same. I saw her this morning as I was leaving. Spencer was pushing a patient into the Emergency Department as I was leaving my night shift. Being a nurse on nights allows me to see her often, even if it’s only from afar.

“Have a good night, Axel. Sleep well.”

“Oh, I’ll be sleeping well, Tails. You’ll be starring in my dreams.”

I shot her wink, and I walked out to my car. Little did I know I’d be having a very awkward conversation with her a few hours later.

“Axel?” Fuck. I’m still on the phone.

“Sorry, Tails. You rendered me speechless.” She honestly did. She complimented my cock. Spencer. Complemented. My. Cock.

“Well, that’s a fucking first, asshole.”

“Shut up, Miller. Go back to staring at my dick pic and stop talking.”

Miller and I have been friends since before either of us knew Spencer, but the red-headed vixen drew us both in, and we’ve made it a little friendly competition to try and catch her.

“If you boys are done comparing dick sizes, I have better things to do to occupy my day.” What I wouldn’t give to help occupy her day.

“Are we all good, Tails? No hard feelings about my fat finger slip?”

“Axel, seeing a picture of the male anatomy isn’t something that will even be a notable moment of my day. Would it bother you to see someone’s breasts in the ED?”

If they were yours, it would.

“Point proven. Have a good day, you two.” I hang up the phone because now I either need a cold shower or to finish what I started when I took that picture.

I know I have a reputation around the hospital for being a player, but I like giving women pleasure. My body count would shock people because they assume I sleep with every woman I hook up with. In reality, my hands are the ones that get around. Women come to me for the orgasms I give them. A skill that I’ve perfected over time and I’m proud of. Does it make me a terrible person that I like to please women? Maybe the amount of women, but I’ve never had any complaints. Also, I really like getting head. I’m a man in my prime—sue me.

I flop back onto my pillows and stare at the ceiling. I can’t sleep, and honestly, masturbating sounds like too much work at the moment. I should check in on Justin to see how the baby progress is going.

Axel: How’s my favorite Mama doing? Do we have a baby yet?

Justin: She’s doing fantastic. I still have a whole hand, so we aren’t that far into it yet. I’ll make a group chat and let everyone know when he arrives.

Axel: I’m so proud of you, man. Can’t wait to meet him.

Justin: I’m getting the stink eye. I have to focus back on my Pumpkin.

I decide not to respond because I know firsthand how Nicole can be when she wants something, and right now, she wants all of Justin’s attention. She deserves it.

I’m off tonight and might as well start my day since sleep seems to be evading me. I’ll take my pill and a cold shower. I will not think about Spencer or Miller getting up close and personal with my favorite body part.

After my shower and my rigorous hair care routine, which takes at least thirty minutes longer than most guys, I’m in desperate need of coffee. Since meeting Nicole, I’ve perfected the maintenance of my curly hair. As a hairdresser, she gave me her knowledge of how to manage and maintain my curls, and I appreciate it every time I look in a mirror.

What to do with my day? Justin is having a baby. Miller is with Spencer. Lucky bastard. Lincoln.

Axel: I need coffee.

Lincoln: Thanks for the info.

Axel: Wanna go on a coffee date with me? ;)

Lincoln: Only if you’re paying. And I’m not a cheap date. S’morgasm or bust.

Axel: Damn, man. Who knew I was paying for a high-end companion?

Lincoln: You did. 30 mins? I’ll meet you there.

Axel: Fine. But it better come with a happy ending.

Lincoln and I met under not the greatest circumstances. He was shot in the leg and rolled into my ED by more uniformed brass than I knew we had on the police force. He’s the best of the best when it comes to being a police officer. Unfortunately, the injury left him unable to go back into the field. He dispatched while recovering, and although the department tried to convince him to retire with a good portion of his pension, he refused. Now, he happily roams the halls at one of the local high schools as a resource officer and fills in at dispatch when needed.

As I walk in the front doors of S’morgasm, I’m overwhelmed by the smell of sweet chocolate and bitter coffee. My stomach growls in protest reminding me I haven’t eaten since around three a.m. and it’s now well after noon.

“You ready to share a s’mores setup, Pookie?” A firm hand grasps my shoulder, and I hear kissing sounds in my ear. A smile spreads on my face as I roll my eyes and turn my head, pursing my lips to kiss attack his cheek.

“Hey. I don’t know where those lips have been. Get back.” He releases my shoulder and steps away in mock horror. His deep, throaty chuckle booms in the room, making a few heads turn.

Lincoln is a good-looking man, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. His baritone voice even gets me hot and bothered sometimes. His green eyes pierce into your soul, making him swoon-worthy to all the ladies. He personifies tall, dark, and handsome.

In answer to his teasing statement, I’d usually say something like “Your mom’s bed” because I have that kind of juvenile humor, but his mom passed away over a decade ago, so I’ll contain that comeback. I know his father remarried but he never talks about her and I never bring it up.

“I’m always happy to show you where they could be.” My eyebrows wiggle, and I make more kissy motions with my lips. Lincoln’s large hand covers my mouth to stop my advances, and I lick it.

“Seriously, man. Did you just lick me?” He wipes his hand on his jeans and scowls at me.

“Don’t pretend you didn’t like it. I’ll do it again if you order your funky s’mores concoctions and make me eat it with you.” The V between his eyes deepens as he scowls harder.

“Fine. You drive a hard bargain, but I’d rather not swap anymore spit with you.” He realizes what he’s said as soon as it comes out of his mouth. I know his preference leans toward men, and he once confessed his attraction to me when we were drunk. It’s become a fun source of good-humored teasing for me. “Don’t do it, Axel.”

“Don’t worry. I’ll spare you the embarrassment if you add rainbow sprinkles to our s’mores.” He huffs, and I wink. I know I’ve won this round.

“So what’s up, Axel? Shouldn’t you be sleeping?” The ground looks really appealing as I shake my head and rub the back of my neck.

“Yeah, well. I um…” I lean close to his ear so no one in line with us can hear. “I sent an accidental dick pic to Spencer.” His brows scrunch as he considers who I’m talking about. I understand his confusion. Spencer is typically a masculine name, and considering the conversation we just had, he’s trying to put the pieces together. “Justin Webb’s partner.”

“Oh, Spencer. Ohhh .”

“Yeah. Oh. That Spencer. ” I’ve never been shy about my attraction to her. She’s a wonderfully complicated woman.

“I have so many questions, but I don’t think I want to know. Maybe after some caffeine and sugar.” We reach the front of the line, and I let Lincoln order for us. He orders a s’mores set up with my rainbow sprinkles, white and milk chocolate, nuts, and chocolate chip cookie crumbles. He listens to my threat and doesn’t order the raspberry jam he usually gets because it’s weird, even though he shoots me a look when the barista asks if he’d like any more toppings.

I pat him on the back, whisper good boy into his ear, and watch the blush creep on his cheeks.

Once we have our coffees in hand, we find a seat on a buttery soft brown leather loveseat. S’morgasm has a rustic industrial feel with exposed beams and pipes. The coffee is always excellent, and the s’mores setups, which are little tabletop sternos with the toppings of your choosing, are unique, and frankly just fun.

“Linc, remind me why a stud like you is still single?” His shoulders stiffen, and he inhales a sharp breath. I turn in my seat to face him better and glare. “Are you keeping secrets?”

I try to contain my need to bounce with excitement as he takes a sip of his coffee and clears his throat. He’s hoping to buy himself some time but I won’t give up that easily.

“Don’t be coy, mister police officer. Spill the beans.”

“Okay, listen. I’m not sure how he feels about being out, so I don’t want to say anything, but yeah, there’s a guy.”

“Do I get any more details?” He gives me a side-eyed glance, and my instincts tingle. “Wait. Do I know him? Is that why you’re being cryptic?” I couldn’t be happier for this guy. He’s broody on a good day, especially to someone he doesn’t know, but once you’re in his inner circle, he has total golden retriever vibes. If he has a man in his life, I know it must be someone special.

“If I say yes, you’re going to try and pry the details out of me, aren’t you?”

“Well, that’s basically an admission, but I’ll respect you. Begrudgingly.” He smiles at me appreciatively. A waitress brings over our food, and we dig in. “By the way, this isn’t the happy ending I expected.”

He rolls his eyes at me and stuffs his face with marshmallows.
