“If directly asked if you’re seeing anyone, tell the truth,” Rita explained. “No more of this back and forth with you and Jennifer. Such a dumb marketing strategy and no one believes it anyway. That ship has sailed long ago, and you were left on shore.” She stopped when I interrupted with a snort. “But don’t go out of your way to make it a big announcement, because that can be seen as a cheap ploy to get your name in all the headlines before the movie premiere. Trust me on this.”
“Okay.” I scratched at my prickly jaw.
She had a point. I didn’t want my sexuality to be newsworthy anyway. Straight actors didn’t have to make an official statement saying as such.
Why should I?
I didn’t need a huge coming out in order to be with the man I loved. I’d just find him, tell him how I felt, and let the pieces fall where they may.
I called Gideon and asked him to come over. He didn’t live far from me and was at my front door within ten minutes.
He entered my house, dressed in jeans and a T-shirt. There was nothing casual about him, though. He looked like he could rip someone in two with his bare hands.
“What’s up, Price?” he asked, taking off his sunglasses. “Your next interview is next week, correct?”
“Yeah, but I’m going somewhere before then.”
His blue eyes zeroed in on me. Specifically to the suitcase beside me on the floor. “Care to share? Or do you want me to play a guessing game?”
“I’m going to Addersfield.”
“Oh.” Gideon’s brows shot up before a smile touched his eyes. “About damn time.”
It’d taken me a long time to get to that point. Years of battling who I felt I should’ve been and who I really was. Therapy with Dr. Warren had helped me, and even though I still had a ways to go, I finally felt like I was on the right track.
The journey wasn’t over. It’d just begun.
And I couldn’t wait to see where it took me.
