Chapter 6
Declan
Going to the club had been a spontaneous decision. After another long day on set, I’d showered and then fallen into bed, checking my social media. Then, I’d seen Kyler’s post.
Not to be arrogant, but I was a busy man. A lot of people were constantly trying to get my attention. Fans, companies wanting me to talk about their products, agents, so-called friends who were more like moochers.
Everyone wanted something from me, whether it be their five minutes of fame or help with furthering their careers. Some only wanted a quick fuck so they could brag to their friends.
And the person who ended up getting my attention out of all of them was a twenty-two year old hottie with the face of an angel and a body made for sin.
I’d seen he was tagged at a club, and without thinking too much into it, I dressed and left the hotel. Gideon would be fucking pissed that I hadn’t told him where I was going, but maybe he wouldn’t notice I’d left.
Unlikely.
When I arrived atRaw,I almost didn’t go inside.
“A gay club?” I said under my breath.
I couldn’t show my face in there. The media would have a field day if I was recognized. I looked at the picture Kyler had posted. His gray eyes were glazed over and he had several empty glasses all around him. He’d said his friends were on the dance floor. So, he was alone. Drunk.
“Fuck it,” I said before heading inside.
I lowered my head and pulled my hat down to cover more of my face as I walked through the wave of dancing people. Hands roamed my body, squeezing my biceps and my ass. It was hard to stay hiddenandsearch the room for Kyler at the same time, but I managed. I was there about five minutes before I recognized Kyler’s blond friend being pulled away from the dance floor by a taller guy in a hat.
After following them, I saw the dude in the hat press between Kyler and some bearded guy before kissing Kyler.
My heart dropped.
I should’ve known he’d have a boyfriend.
And what did it matter even if he didn’t? I wasn’t openly gay. It wasn’t like I’d pull him into my arms and kiss him in front of god and everybody like the guy in the hat had. I hid behind a false persona just to cover up the fact that I liked men.
I’m an idiot.
Maybe the stupid romance movies I’d been acting in were going to my head and filling it with bullshit ideas that would never come to fruition.
I turned to leave.
Kyler didn’t look good, though. He leaned against the wall and frowned, holding his stomach. Before I realized what I was doing, I was walking toward him. Toward all three of them.
Wait…the guy in the hat kind of looked like that Royal guy.
“Is he okay?” I asked.
When Freckles began to babble about me being imaginary, I smiled. He was an adorable drunk, both sexy and goofy at the same time. The blond guy joined in on the crazy rambling and Royal shook his head at them.
I was drawn to Kyler and couldn’t explain why. We hadn’t said much in person to each other, but I’d done plenty of social media stalking. I felt like I knew him. Like I’d known him for years. Which I knew was crazy.
“Hey, Freckles,” I said, approaching him.
“Hey yourself, Spartan,” he answered before flashing a goofy grin.
Butterflies flapped in my stomach at the sight. His light-brown hair swooped across his brow and his shirt showed a hint of the indentions of his collarbone. Gray eyes regarded me as another silly grin spread across his face.
I was so fucked that I needed another word for it.
Too drunk to stand on his own, he started sliding down the wall, and I rushed to grab him.
