Page 44 of Breaking Sanity
“I’d rather hear it from your point of view.”
“Why? So you can twist it and use it against me?”
“Alley, I’m not twisting or using anything against you, yet.”
“Exactly, yet! Do you get off by preying on the vulnerabilities of women?”
“Kukla.”
“Baron.”
“Alley” He starts to grind his teeth. “What happened between you and Nikolas?”
“Ask him,” I say. “Do you get off by exposing their fears to your brothers and watching them make it a living nightmare?”
“Get off on it, in what way,” he sighs, reaching under his mask. I am assuming he is pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Sexually?”
“Not sexually, no.”
“Then what is it? Or did your mom beat the sadism into you?”
Can you go five minutes without provoking one of them please?
That doesn’t sit well with him because he stalks towards me. Unlike Nik, whose movements are jerky, Baron moves with grace and elegance. He carries himself with confidence that most men wished they had.
He slowly leans down and places his hands on the top of the couch caging in my head. He gets as close to my face without touching. The urge I have to sink into the couch is immense, but instead I close the distance between our faces.
“I am a patient man, Alessandra, but you are pushing it.”
Baron lifts his right hand, causing me to flinch and finally back away from him. He doesn’t slap me though, instead his fingers start to skim my face, slowly trail down my neck to my pulse point. It turns my blood to ice. Something about the combination of threatening words, gentle touchesand his menacing stature makes me want to crawl out of my skin or cry in the fetal position. I am not acknowledging the other feelings I have or the heat suddenly warming my core. Those feelings can fuck right off.
“You need to trust me when I say I will not let them hurt you, completely.”
“Completely? That’s reassuring. So just you then?”
“And Gunner,” he adds.
“I must be the luckiest girl in the world.” I resume my position millimeters away from his face.
“That’s enough.” His voice raises slightly. “Answer my question.”
“Go back to whatever ring of hell you crawled out of, Baron. I’m done answering your stupid questions.”
Baron lets out a deep exhale and hangs his head in defeat. His hand goes from my neck and back to the top of the couch. I keep my eyes on his head as it shakes back and forth, but that only lasts a few seconds. The squeaking of the leather material being strangled catches my attention. His knuckles are turning white as he fists the scrunched top. Eventhrough the fabric of his dress shirt, I can tell his muscular arms are rigid.
In a blink of an eye, he picks me up by my waist and with ease throws me across the room. I land and slide across his desk taking the majority of the items crashing to the floor with me. I can’t help but to groan in pain as I again land on my bad side.
It hurts so fucking bad, that the pain is just radiating through my body. I need them to stop throwing me as if I am a damn frisbee. I need them to let up but for them to do that I have to give in to what they want. I guess I can give a little to Baron.
“Baron,” I plea, rolling on my back.
“Oh the time for begging hasn’t even begun,” he grinds out, standing above me.
“What do you fucking want from me,” I whimper.
“Answer my questions like a good girl,” Baron hisses. “What I have asked for has never changed.”
