“I’m yours,” Phoenix said. “My soul. My body.” He tipped his head back, exposing his collar. “My life.”
“Nix.” His name came out a bit broken. I rested my forehead against his. What the hell was wrong with me? I felt like I was about to break down. To cry. To scream. To crumble into a hundred pieces at his feet.
“Hey.” Phoenix wrapped both arms around me. His heart beat quickly in his chest, right against mine. “Tell me what you’re thinking.”
I didn’t know how to put it into words. Something dark had taken hold of me. It twisted at my insides, taking my breath and making me shake all over.
“Touch me,” I whispered, eyes stinging. It was the loudest I could speak without my voice cracking. “Just… touch me.” I held him tighter. “Please.”
Chapter Thirteen
Phoenix
I had seen Bellamy mad as hell. I’d seen him consumed by his sin, his touches searing into me and his kisses just as hot.
But I’d never seen him like this. So vulnerable and desperate for touch. His soul seemed fractured, like he was seconds away from shattering completely. I didn’t know what had triggered his behavior, but I wanted to make it better.
I wanted to mend this brokenness inside him.
“I’m right here,” I said, backing him up toward the bed.
A soft whine left him as our lips met, gently at first, then firmer.
Strange how I’d destroyed so much in my life, but he was the one thing I never wanted to break. The one thing I wanted to protect.
Reaching the bed, I removed his pants, then his briefs, before doing the same to mine. He pulled me on top of him once we were both naked and kissed me until I was breathless. We rutted together, cocks swelling between us.
“I need you,” Bellamy murmured. “And it scares me.”
So that’s what was bothering him. The evening of playing cards with his brothers—the normality of it—had shaken him. Because it was something to get used to. Something that would hurt like hell if ripped away.
“Still worried we’re going to crash and burn?” I asked.
“Always.” He cupped the back of my head and brushed his lips over mine. “You can’t stay in this mansion forever. I refuse to keep you like a pet, collared and caged.”
“You think I’ll leave you once I’m free.”
“No. I think Asa will find you the moment you’re no longer safe behind this barrier.” His grip on me tightened. “And he’ll destroy the one thing in my life I can’t live without.”
My eyes watered. “You can’t live without me?”
“I don’t want to find out if I can. I just want you by my side.”
“I’m not going anywhere.” I combed my fingers through his blond hair. “Even if you took this collar off me right now, I’d still be here. With you.”
Did I like being stuck at the mansion all damn day? No. But it was a temporary arrangement until his brothers trusted me not to betray them.
“Collar stays on for now,” Bellamy said before nuzzling it. “It’s too damn sexy.”
“Maybe after this, you can get me a collar without the magic runes.” I rolled my hips, ushering from him a small groan as my ass glided along the length of his hard cock.
He smoothed his thumb over the buckle of the collar. “I’d like that.”
“Me too.”
I liked him laying claim to me in every way possible. With his touch. With his bite marks.
My tail caressed his thigh. He smiled against my lips. I had never met a male who loved my tail more than Bellamy. With the magic suppressing collar around my neck, I couldn’t hide my demon form even if I tried. But being with him was the first time I neverwantedto hide.
