“I don’t need you,”I told my sin.
My brothers and I had vowed not to use those powers unless it was absolutely necessary. Taking on one female demon wasn’t enough for me to break my oath. Besides, Raiden was too close. If I released that power, he’d be affected.
And the last thing I needed was for him to try to fuck me too.
I made that mistake only once in my life. It had been when my brothers and I were on a mission to defeat a powerful demon lord during Lucifer’s reign thousands of years ago. I had released pheromones to send the enemy scouts into a sex-crazed orgy so we could easily pass by them, and it had affected my brothers too. Galen had groped my ass once before snapping out of it.
I still had nightmares about that.
“You and me both,”Raiden responded with a shudder, having read my thoughts. It was harder to hide them when we were already connected through a mind link.“You’re cute, Bell, but sooo not my type.”
Just as I was about to spout off a response, there was a heavy flapping of wings.
Belphegor landed in front of me, his feathers black as night. Gray greatly resembled him—the same shade of blond hair and brown eyes. But where Belphegor had muscle and height, Gray was the opposite: small and cute. Not weak though. My little brother had a different kind of strength.
“You made that too easy,” Belphegor told me. “Lazarus would be ashamed of you. All that training, only for you to be bested by a little girl.”
“Hey, this ‘little girl’ just caught a big fish.” She dug the blade deeper. “Show some respect.”
Major dilemma. Out of all the “big bad guys” currently trying to kill us, Belphegor was in the top three. Using Lust’s power was tempting. But if I did, Gray’s dad would want me. And I’d never be able to face him again if I banged his dad. There were just some things you didn’t do, being the respectable older brother that I was.
“I told Alastair what’s goin’ on,”Raiden said.“He and Galen are on their way. We need to distract them for five minutes, tops.”
“What’s this about?” I asked Belphegor. “Desperate to see me again. Is that it?”
“Hold your tongue, you lech.”
“I bet you’re imagining all kinds of fun things this tongue can do.” I grinned at him. Taunting him probably wasn’t the best idea, but I didn’t have a better one at the moment.
“Shut up.” The female demon yanked my head back, placing the dagger at my throat.
Okay. Yeah. Not good. Chances of escape with my head still intact had just decreased. Unless I used my secret weapon.
Fuck.
Belphegor stepped toward me, gaze hard. “You have something I want.”
“I think the kids call it seggs these days.”
“I told you to hold your tongue,” Belphegor said with a snarl before summoning a sword of fire.
My skin tingled from the heat of those flames as he rested the blade on the side of my neck.
“Back the fuck off!” Raiden rushed forward, his body shaking. I felt his worry and anger as if it were my own. The bond we shared revealed his every strong emotion. He stopped dead in his tracks when Belphegor sliced a very thin line down my throat.
Blood dripped onto my bare chest. Nothing I couldn’t handle. I’d had worse.
“It’s okay, Ray,” I said, keeping a level tone. “We’re just chatting like good ol’ pals.”
That “pal” being a psychotic fallen angel with a fetish for psychological torture. But still.
“Don’t damage him too much,” the female demon said before pressing her face into my back. “Mm. Unless I get to flay off some of his pretty skin too.”
“Why?” I asked. “So you can wear it like someSilence of the Lambsshit?”
Thank you, Gray, for your love of scary movies. My smart-ass responses wouldn’t be nearly as good without that knowledge.
“Gluttony,” Belphegor said to Raiden. “I’m no fool. Pride and Wrath are closing in on us. I can sense them. Give them a message for me.”
