I bit at his bottom lip. “Admit it. I’d make a hot-as-fuck husband.”
“The hottest,” he said, eyes crinkling at the edges. “But your brothers would flip shit if you welcomed a demon into the family.”
“You’ve won Alastair over. That’s no easy feat. Besides… you’remydemon.” I threaded my fingers through the back of his hair. “And I’m not ever letting you go.”
“I don’t want to let you go either.” He hooked his arms around my waist. “Are you sure this is what you want? Me?”
“More than anything.” I felt that truth deep in my bones. “I’ve run from love my whole life. I felt unworthy of it. Because of Lust, I felt too tainted. Dirty. I didn’t think anyone could ever accept me as I am.” Emotion caused a tremor in my throat. “I don’t feel like that anymore.”
Phoenix kissed beneath my jaw. “I accept you. All of you. And I love you so much it scares me.”
“Yeah. It scares me too.” My chest got tight. “I love you, Nix. I want to spend forever by your side. Do you want to spend it by mine?”
He softly kissed me. Then, with our lips still touching, he whispered, “Yes.”
“Yes?” My heart swelled as I smiled so wide my cheeks ached. “You’ll marry me?”
“I must be out of my goddamn mind, but yes,” Phoenix said. “I’m not saying cheesy shit in front of your brothers at the wedding though. That’s where I draw the line.”
“It’s cute when you try to hide how excited you are.”
“Shut up.” He pushed his face in the nook between my neck and shoulder. More likehidhis face and the adorable blush he was now sporting. “I want to die a thousand more deaths in your arms.”
“Only a thousand?”
He smiled against my neck. “An infinite amount still wouldn’t be enough.”
“Guess we better get started, then,” I said, my blood heating and cock swelling. “Blink us to our room.”
Phoenix lightly laughed before teleporting us to our bedroom and pushing me down on the mattress.
“Mine,”Lust purred.“Forever.”
Forever sounded good to me.
Chapter Twenty-Three
Phoenix
Sappy declarations of love were ten million percent not my style. Give me a villain monologue any day, and I’d recite that shit like nobody’s business. But confessing my love to my soul mate in front of an audience?
My palms sweat, my heart raced, and my breaths were shallow. Uneven.
“Breathe,” Bellamy said as he stood in front of me. Gods, he looked handsome in his tux, collar undone and showing the base of his throat. His blond hair had a gentle wave, and his sapphire eyes radiated warmth. He looked happy.
“You breathe,” I muttered. “Maybe if you didn’t look like a goddamn supermodel, it’d be easier for me to think.”
He touched my jaw. “You’re not so bad yourself, demon.”
“No touching yet,” Alastair said, frowning at Bellamy’s hand. “Drop it.”
“Yes, Daddy.” Bellamy smirked and moved his hand away.
A blanket of stars shone above us, and the moon glowed bright. Fairy lights had been strung from the trees and along the patio behind us. Bellamy had wanted an evening wedding, where the moonlight would glisten off the dark water of the sea. My nights of staring at the moon and him staring at the sea merged in that single instant.
Everything had been thrown together in three days. With Lucifer free—and the mystery of Asa’s missing body—it maybe wasn’t the best time for a wedding. However, the war would only intensify from this moment on. While we had a short reprieve from the fighting, I wanted to take advantage of it. I wanted to bind my soul to Bellamy’s so if he fell in one of the battles waiting for us on the horizon, I would go with him.
A lifetime of only looking out for myself, and now, I’d die tomorrow if it meant not living a single day without him.
