“Me? Run from you?” I leaned in closer. “Never.”
Bellamy’s scent crashed into me, like rich bourbon mixed with the citrusy notes of bergamot. His lips softly parted, though his gaze remained hard. Piercing. He wanted me and hated that he did.
Well, that made two of us.
“I’ll tear you apart,” he said, voice low with a raspy edge. His warm breath feathered across my mouth.
“I look forward to seeing you try.”
Before I could do something I’d later regret, I vanished from his cell and reappeared in my room. Pale blue light greeted me from the window as I braced myself on the frame. My heart was racing like crazy.
His scent. Fuck. I couldn’t get it out of my head.
I couldn’t gethimout of my head.
Chapter Four
Bellamy
It wasn’t the first time I’d been chained to a wall. Or the first time I’d been in a cell. It was, however, the first time I’d been this goddamn confused.
The way I responded to Phoenix was unlike anything I’d experienced before. Those whiskey eyes. That soft mouth. Or, I assumed it was soft. It sure as fuck looked like it. I hated him with every fiber in my body… but I also craved him. Craved to taste those lips to see for myself if they were that silky and smooth. Delectable.
“Weak,”Lust whispered.
“Yeah, I know you are,” I answered him aloud. Not like there was anyone around to hear me. I was the only prisoner in the underground dungeon. “What the hell do you want me to do about it?”
“Touch.”
“Who am I gonna touch? Huh?”
Lust was going through withdrawals. It had been about two weeks since I’d fucked that werewolf Austin at Krave. And that was usually the longest Lust could go without going apeshit on me or being dramatic. Not that I could hold off much longer either. Three weeks wasmylimit. I wouldn’t die without sex. But I got weak—and bitchy—if I went too long without it. The magic cuffs on my wrists didn’t help with that either since they zapped my mana even more.
“Him. Touch him.”
My stomach flipped. “No.”
“Yes. Want him.”
“Too damn bad. He’s off-limits.”
My thoughts drifted to that bloodstained beach where a battle had raged, Nephilim and demons clashing on the shore as the hot Caribbean sun blazed down on us. It was the day where I’d first felt that tug in my chest. The day my world had been turned upside down. I had grabbed Phoenix and placed a dagger at his throat.
Killing him would’ve given us a major advantage in the war against Asa, for he was one of Asa’s closest advisors. But as the sharp edge of the blade scraped Phoenix’s throat, I had looked into his whiskey eyes and nearly dropped to my knees from the force of that stare.
“No!”Lust had screamed in my head, thrashing inside my chest.
My hesitation had given Phoenix time to escape my hold.
“It’s all your fault, asshole,” I muttered to my sin, adjusting my position on the floor. My ass was numb. “I would’ve killed him if not for you stopping me.”
“Liar.”
He was right, but like hell I’d admit it.
“Shut up so I can sleep.”
The cuffs scraped my wrists raw, and I was restless. Too wired to sleep. Reality was starting to sink in.
