Story: The Love of Priest 2
"It ain't like she told me about it," Jazzy cut in. "Taylor and I were in the club a lot, so we saw a lot of things. Just let me set something up, and you guys can get a feel for her yourselves." Jazzy motioned her shoulders in a shrug.
J'Ru followed suit with a shrug as well. "I mean, this the best we got," he told Kaymen, indicating that he was on board with Jazzy.
Jazzy shifted her attention over to Kaymen who was fighting the urge to agree to her plan. "Set something up with shorty in the afternoon, and we can go from there," he finally caved.
Jazzy nodded her head as she reached into her purse. Luckily for her, she still had Avery Simmons' business card that was given to her by Cameron at the bottom of her purse. Pulling it out, she eyed it, seeing that Avery's contact information was listed. She inputted and saved it in her device, making a mental note to contact her at a better hour of the day. With the deadline to have a meeting set up with Avery in the next few hours, Jazzy knew she had her work cut out for her.
"Aye, if this go south, it's on you," Kaymen warned as he fingered through a stack of money.
Jazzy smacked her lips with a roll of her eyes. "Shut up and have some faith," she told him as she took a step down from her seat on the stool to head to her bedroom.
"Where you going? This money ain't gone count itself," J'Ru called behind her.
"I'm doing my part by getting shorty to consider getting involved with us," Jazzy stated with a laugh as she continued down the hall to her bedroom.
Jazzlyn went ahead and decompressed from the long day she had by taking a steamy shower, then getting dressed in her most comfortable set of pajamas. Once she got into bed, she stared at the time that displayed on her screen, hating the fact that she was expected to be up bright and early in a few hours. Turning over in bed, she closed her eyes, hoping to fall fast asleep while the distant sounds of money counters sounded from the kitchen.
After getting as much rest as she could, she groaned at the sound of her alarm blaring from her phone. She knew if she didn't get in with Avery by the end of the day, Kaymen and J'Ru would have her head.
Getting out of bed, Jazzy conducted her usual morning routine, handling her hygiene and then scavenging her closet for something to wear. It was never like Jazzy to be simple, so of course her attire was eye-catching. To accentuate her mild curves, she decided on a fancy all-white pant suit. She complimented the look with a brown top that matched perfectly with her brown Yves Saint Laurent heels and caramel-colored Hermés Birkin bag. She styled her tresses by touching up her curls that were just a few days old, allowing them to descend to the middle of her back. After accessorizing the look with a few pieces of jewelry, she eyed herself in the mirror with a look of satisfaction etching her face.
She filled her Birkin with all her necessities before exiting her bedroom. Her heels sounded against the buffered floors as she strutted down the hall of the penthouse, headed to the elevator. Bypassing the kitchen, she noticed J'Ru and Kaymen had cleaned up, not leaving any traces of the cash they spent all night counting.
She pressed the elevator button, causing the doors to drift open, allowing her to step in. As she pressed the button for the garage, she received a phone call. Focusing her attention on her phone, she noticed it was Kaymen calling.
"Morning," he greeted her. "Me and Ru downstairs waiting for you."
"I could have handled this myself," she responded as the elevator came to a stop once it arrived at the parking garage. Stepping out, she noticed Kaymen's Benz truck and J'Ru's Jeep Trackhawk parked next to each other.
She could hear Kaymen chuckle lightly. "I know you could've. Just think of us as manpower when shit not going your way. We'll follow you there," he suggested before ending the call.
Jazzlyn got into her Porsche, sinking into the leather seats. Pushing the button to bring the vehicle to life, she pulled out of the parking space. Despite claiming that she could handle getting Avery on board, she had no fucking idea how she was going to convince her to wash hundreds of thousands of dollars when she wasn't used to doing anything of that caliber. All Jazzy knew was that she couldn't fuck up.
Eventually, they arrived at the high rise building where Avery's office was located. They bypassed security, gaining access to the parking garage. Jazzy had not set up a meeting with Avery. Everything was very impromptu, but she was expecting nothing more than Avery’s agreement to jump onboard.
Pulling into a parking spot, she turned the vehicle off before exiting with her Birkin in hand. She, J'Ru and Kaymen lockedtheir cars. "You sure you can handle this, Jazzy?" J'Ru asked with a raise of a brow.
Having always handled business with Priest, J'Ru was always confident they would have anyone they needed on board. It was hard to say no to the three of them because they were a unit. However, Jazzy was now in the mix, and she had no reputation, and no one really feared her or even knew of her capabilities. Kaymen and J'Ru were willing to allow Jazzy to lead for now since Avery was her connect, but the moment they noticed she wasn't sealing the deal correctly, they were going to step in.
With her sunglasses barricading her soft orbs, Jazzy looked over her shoulder at J'Ru. "I'm positive," she stated confidently.
She entered the building, her orbs scoping around the design of the place. From the looks of it, Avery was at the top of her game. The headquarters had a modern and sleek design to it, and it was filled with businessmen and women who were dressed in tailored suits and dresses.
Jazzy had never been thrown to the forefront before, so she had some nerves lingering over her. Kaymen and J'Ru towering right behind her didn’t help either. In her designer heels, she sauntered to the front desk, earning a greeting from the receptionist. "Afternoon. I'm here for Avery Simmons," Jazzy announced as she showcased her infectious smile.
The receptionist tapped away on her keyboard, shifting her attention between her desktop and Jazzy. "And you are?" she asked.
Since she didn't have an appointment, Jazzy knew she would have to jump hurdles to get up to Avery's office. "Here for Avery Simmons," she reiterated, with the same smile. "She's expecting us. It was a little impromptu, but you can go ahead and give her a call if you need to," Jazzy suggested with an encouraging nod.
The receptionist eyed Jazzy for a moment. She seemed trustworthy. Without calling Avery, receptionist gave Jazzyclearance up to Avery's office. After getting directions from the receptionist, Jazzy led Kaymen and J'Ru toward the elevator. As they entered the lift, she could hear Kaymen scoff lowly. "Pretty privileged," he muttered, causing J'Ru and Jazzy to laugh in amusement.
Both men knew neither of them would have gained easy access like Jazzy had, especially with their rugged exteriors. The three ascended in the elevator, landing on the seventh floor where Avery's office was located.Avery had her door propped open. She sat behind the desk holding a brief conversation on her office phone that was coming to an end just as Jazzy, J'Ru and Kaymen stepped inside.
"Hey, it looks like you were expecting us after all." Jazzy smiled since Avery wasn't taken aback by their presence in her office.
Avery gestured her finger toward the phone she was just using. "I got a call from the front desk," she explained. "I was expecting someone but definitely not you all," she said, scanning Jazzy and the two men up and down.
"Yeah, sorry about that," Jazzy apologized in a sweet tone as she took a seat. "My name is Jazzlyn, and this is Kaymen and J'Ru," she introduced everyone while holding her hand out for Avery to shake.
J'Ru followed suit with a shrug as well. "I mean, this the best we got," he told Kaymen, indicating that he was on board with Jazzy.
