Story: From the Ashes

“Here’s the thing, you can’t make me talk. So, sucks to be you.”
“Come on, Red. Don’t be like that. Just tell us what happened so we know what went down,” Mason says as he sits up on the couch.
“And then I can go?”
All three of them nod.
I bring my hand to my forehead and rub it. My skull still feels like it’s being split open from the inside out. And my eyes still hurt in the light. Daxon comes over and sits next to me, handing me some ibuprofen and a glass of water.
“Small sips, slowly,” he orders. I nod and knock back the pills, internally praying for quick relief. “Start from the beginning.”
Taking a deep breath, I close my eyes and try to remember what happened. “Chad and I walked in, and we started talking to some people. I have no idea who they where. He went to get me a drink. I didn’t know it was going to be in a cup. I thought, these are rich assholes, you all can afford to buy bottles for everyone. I remember him handing me the cup and I put it to my lips to pretend I was drinking it, but I didn’t. I mean, I know he brought me there, and I didn’t think he would do anything to hurt me, but you never know.”
“Smart,” Mason pipes up.
“I really did need something to drink, so I told him I needed to go to the bathroom. Plus, I just needed some fresh air for a little while. So, Chad pointed me in the direction to the bathroom. I went that way but snuck out to the deck and got myself a new drink, where I proceeded to drink it.”
I stop for a moment, trying to remember everything.
“Oh!” I turn to Dax. “Your cunt of a girlfriend, Bianca, snuck up on me.”
Dax growls in response.
“Bianca was there?” Mason questions.
“That’s what I said. Yeah. She surprised me and I ended up spilling some of my drink on her.” I bend forward and groan as my head pounds away. “I don’t remember much after that. I walked away from her, but that’s when things get a little fuzzy.”
“We found you in the bathroom. Drugged out of your mind. But if you didn’t drink Chad’s drink, how did it get into your system?” Dax runs his hand through his hair and lets out a sigh.
“I was drugged? Like roofied?” I look up at Colt who nods.
“You were,” he confirms. “We just don’t know how or who did it. For all we know, you did it yourself.”
My mouth drops open in complete shock. “Are you fucking serious right now? Why the hell would I do something like that to myself?”
“Attention. I mean, you’re the new girl after all. Same reason you put trash in your own locker.” Dax tilts his head towards me.
What the fuck is even going on at this point? I feel like I’m in crazy land. Maybe I’m still passed out and this is all a dream? Running my hands through my hair, I look at all three assholes. “I didn’t drug myself. I didn’t even know I was fucking drugged. But way to blame the victim in all this. Now if you will excuse me, I will be getting the fuck out of dodge and away from you royal assholes.”
Slowly pushing up from the bed, I walk towards the door, noticing my phone sitting on the dresser along the wall. Without warning, I’m turned around and slammed up against a wall.
“Easy, Dax,” Mason calls out.
Dax presses his body against mine, and I can feel him vibrating against me. His hand comes up to my throat, squeezing just enough to hold me in place but not cut off my breathing. My body hasn’t gotten the memo that he is not someone it should be sexually attracted to. Instead, I can feel my nipples harden against my bra. I can feel myself become very aroused from his touch.
“What are you doing here, Phoenix? Why are you at Darkwood?” he demands through gritted teeth.
“What the fuck are you going on about? I’m here to go to school, fucker.” My hands try to push him off me, but he is too strong for me.
“See, I don’t see it like that. I think you are up to something. You have secrets, Spitfire, and I’m gonna figure them out and tear you down.”
“Are you on medication? Your flip flopping is seriously giving me whiplash. I don’t know what the fuck you think I’m hiding, but fuck all of you. I didn’t ask for any of this!” I grab his wrist pinning me against the wall trying to wrench it away from me. I fail miserably at it.
“I’ll give you this one warning, Phoenix, leave this campus and get the fuck out of town. You stay, you deserve everything coming your way. I will make you pay for what you did. Vengeance is a beautiful thing.” His other hand comes up and caresses my cheek as his eyes darken. He pushes off me, releasing my throat.
My fists clench at my sides. “I don’t know what you are talking about, but you can shove your threats up your ass. I’m not going anywhere.”
“I’ll love watching you break. Better run. Get out of here before we keep you locked up.”
