Story: Abandoned Oaths
You want us to take them out? Marco sounded surprised.
At least one. Leave the body somewhere noticeable. We need to get their attention while also figuring out who the hell they are.
Got it. He confirmed.
They would follow orders and meet us back at the car. Derek and I had to alert Emilia. I leaned back and my phone thudded against my chest.
Shit. Right.
I shifted back and started a text.
Javier: Two dozen entering from the west side.
She didn’t reply.
Javier: Unknown enemy.
You need to get out.
Finally, the screen lit with her name.
“What’s going on?” She whispered.
“Two dozen armed men are entering the house from the west side.”
“Where’s the security team?”
“Unaware. We’re working on that.”
“Shit.” She paused. “I don’t hear anything.”
“You need to get out. Now.”
“I can’t.”
“You have to. We can’t stay for much longer. You have to come now.” She didn’t immediately respond. What was she doing? Packing? “Emilia, you’re in danger, and we can’t protect you.”
She sighed. “I can’t leave.”
“Why not?” I demanded.
“Just go. I’ll say I heard something and have his team check it out. Just get away, okay?”
She hung up.
“She’s not coming?” Derek’s brows pulled tight. “What the fuck?”
“Come on. Let’s get back to the car.” I turned and ran, knowing he would follow.
When we reached the spot to hop the wall, finally, security took action. An alarm sounded, and men flooded the area.
“Shit! Come on!” I jumped and threw myself over.
Derek followed a second later, and we ran back to the car where Marco and Cruz were already getting dressed.
“Where is she?” Cruz looked around us.
“She’s not coming,” Derek growled.
