Plans had been put in place, and Kevin’s pack were starting to take the children home. There was still lots to do, but with every child that left and returned home, it helped settle something in everyone.

There was still more to talk about, but no one wanted to do that over food.

Sandwiches and nibbles had been brought out and eaten when Gavin’s phone pinged. Hunter”s name popped up and he smiled, opening the message just as David’s phone rang. He gave a silent gasp at what Hunter wasn’t saying.

“What’s wrong, Gav?” Mathis asked his brother.

Gavin thrusted his phone at Mathis, who read the message.

“Little witch, can you open a portal to Hunter? They caught your witch,” Mathis said.

“They did indeed. Owen has just phoned me,” David said.

“Finally,” Gabe said, standing up and opening a portal.

Gavin jumped up and ran through first, running straight to Hunter. He stopped just in front of Hunter and signed.

“I hurt my arm, but that’s it. I jumped out of the way in time. The sink was killed, though,” he said, pointing to the smoky, blackened area, “and luckily the fire alarm didn’t go off.”

Gavin sighed and wrapped his arms around Hunter.

Hunter pulled him closer and rested his head on top of Gavin’s.

“Yes, this is Jake Conway,” Gabe said, squatting down by him. “We should be able to get most of the information we need from him.” Gabe grinned at the vampires. “And by we, I, of course, mean you guys.”

David nodded. “I can get the information from him, that won’t be a problem. I also need to update everyone on what else I found from the lemmings.”

“Umm, Hunter, you have a magical portal in your room?” Luke said, staring at it.

“It’s a quick way to travel,” Hunter replied.

“You must be Gavin. Hunter told us all about you and sighed happily, spoke more about you and sighed again. Really, there has been a lot of sighing. I’m Luke, by the way.”

“I didn’t sigh,” Hunter protested.

Gavin pulled out of Hunter”s arms and turned, smiling at Luke.

“Oh my God, you’re gorgeous. I’m Shelby, and seriously, you’re stunning. But if you don’t mind me saying, your clothes are a bit plain, and you were born to stand out.”

Gavin silently laughed and blushed, then signed.

“It’s nice to meet you, too,” Luke said. “I’ve only just started learning sign language, so I apologise now if I misinterpret something.”

Gavin smiled and signed again.

“So that was you’re welcome and it’s nice to meet us?” Shell asked.

Gavin nodded.

Hunter put his arm around Gavin’s waist.

Shelby sighed. “So unfair. Look, Luke, Hunter and Gavin look perfect together, and Taha and Owen look perfect together. We need to find ourselves some cool paranormal’s.”

“It’s not all it’s cracked up to be. You don’t get any upgrades, no super speed, no super hearing, nothing,” Hunter told them.

“Oh, you poor human, you,” Mathis said, grinning at him.

They stopped talking when they heard a groan coming from Jake.

“Your witch is waking up,” Mathis said, squatting down so he was the first face Jake saw when he woke up. Mathis gave him an evil grin. “Hello, buttercup. Remember me?” he said, patting Jake on the head.

“You can’t keep me here. We will destroy you; all of you. Our plans have already been set in motion.”

“What plans?” Gabe asked him.

Jake scowled at him. “You’ll see.”

“We need to find out what he knows,” Gabe said.

“Let’s take him back to the wolves. I’m sure Kevin would like to chat with him, as well,” David said.

“Not to mention the Alpha King,” Mathis said, again patting the man’s head.”

“Alpha King?” Jake asked paling.

“Look at that reaction. Definitely the Alpha King,” David said. “Owen, you can carry him.”

Owen grumbled and picked Jake up, throwing the witch over his shoulder.

“I demand you put me down,” Jake said, struggling.

“I’ll get right on that,” Owen said, rolling his eyes.

“It might be worth bringing the lemmings, as well,” Mathis said.

Gabe nodded. “Yeah, we still need to know what was found out.”

“Let me collect the lemmings and I can fill you in. Can you open a portal to the coven house?” David asked.

“I can do that,” Gabe said, opening a portal.

“Thanks. Mathis, you can come with me. Seth,” David called out.

Seth walked through the portal. “What’s up, bossman?”

“We’re going to collect the lemmings and bring them to the wolf pack,” David told him.

“Off we go, then,” Seth said, walking through the second portal.

“See you in a bit, little witch,” Mathis said following.

“When you’re ready, text me and I’ll open another portal for you,” Gabe told him.

“Will do,” David replied.

They watched David walk through the portal and then Gabe closed it.

“So cool! Can you teach me how to create portals?” Shell asked, smiling at Gabe.

“Only if you’re a witch,” Gabe replied.

“I’m not a witch, but I am fabulous. Does that count?”

Gabe laughed. “Alas, it does not.”

“Bummer.”
